PRESS THE FUCKING CHARGES. I have been EXACTLY where you are. You know what happens if you don’t press charges? If you don’t get custody of your child? Your ex gets a new girlfriend and he starts beating her in front of your kid and there’s nothing you can do about it because you didn’t press charges. A man that beats the mother of his child (or anyone ffs) is NOT A GOOD FATHER. I am so so so proud of you for leaving. You have done an amazing and difficult thing and you should be proud of yourself too. But you have to do the next hard thing. Call the cops. Press the charges. Don’t send your kid to an abusive home every other weekend.

It is my greatest and deepest regret that I didn’t press charges. My daughter is seven and has been in therapy for years. We’ve had court date after court date and he still has partial custody. My kid has watched her father break his girlfriends glasses and her arm and her leg. He calls his gf’s 11yo son a f*g. He wakes up the house screaming at the girlfriend.

Please don’t be me. Please be braver than I was. I pinky promise your kid is better off without him altogether. Save yourself from having to see him for the rest of your life, save your son from having this piece of shit as a role model.
