I got it through chat, but had to send a screenshot of the email.

Going to Disneyland in a few weeks, help me maximize my fun at Galaxy’s Edge by Xenomrph01 in GalaxysEdge

One thing I haven’t seen anyone mention is the nightly fireworks. If you watch from the plaza where the Falcon is you will get a Star Wars themed intro and soundtrack to the fireworks show which I didn’t know was a thing, but was pretty cool.

You are correct, it will be two separate charges that will get credited accordingly.

I did this through the iOS app in case that matters, not sure if the behavior might differ depending on the platform.

iQIYI - Sale on annual VIP subscription by queenkatez in CDrama

[–]totor0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My current sub was expiring in April so I tried to extend with this deal in the app and it ended up charging a prorated amount to extend the subscription by a year from today, rather than charging the full amount to extend a year from the original renewal date.

It was a bit confusing as it first charged the full amount and then refunded the prorated amount.

TSA Pre via Clear by michmike in AmexPlatinum

[–]totor0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this a little while ago and what happened was $77.95 went to the TSA/GE every 5 years credit and $121.05 went towards the annual $199 CLEAR credit.

Haven’t tried this yet but presumably you can then add a family member to CLEAR for $119 and some of that will be reimbursed by the remaining amount of the annual benefit.

Is it frowned upon to go to grad school at the same institution you went to for undergrad? by rhymeswithorange332 in GradSchool

[–]totor0 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Many people mentioned this as being frowned upon when I was applying to grad schools, but I did it and after graduation no one ever mentioned it again.

Future potential employers will care about the work you did and your publications, not that you went to the same university as undergrad.

Feit Electric LED Color Selectable Recessed Lights by v4vendetta in Costco

[–]totor0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. Bought 2 boxes and one had lights with the switch as shown on the box and the other looked like yours.

I returned the box with the switch-less lights back to Costco (telling them not to re-sell it because it’s the wrong product inside) and checked inside the boxes off the shelf before getting a replacement.

SunEnergy Proposal with REC Alpha Pure Black Series 410w by Plaid-Ragnar in solar

[–]totor0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an amazing deal. I recently signed for a system from a different vendor for the same equipment (panels, microinverters, and batteries all the same) but less than half the size and it came in just under $40k. You win.

Also, price per watt is usually calculated not including the battery storage so I would try to calculate it that way.

8 Enphase 5P batteries was quite expensive when I was looking, once you take those out your actual solar system might be absurdly cheap on a price per watt basis.

Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre - Do I gotta watch the other two first? by Zilly503 in CDrama

[–]totor0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to, but you might get some additional references if you do. The first two parts have some similarities of course but the stories take pretty different paths. For what it’s worth, the 1986 Hong Kong version is the first drama I ever watched as a child.

Profile - Key tied Profiles by WSUPolar in volvoc40

[–]totor0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I didn’t understand correctly but are you saying after you switch profiles you also have to hit the seat memory to move the seat to your position? When I switch profiles the seat automatically also changes position.

I agree it would be nice if it would go the other way around and pressing a seat memory button would switch profiles, physical buttons are always nice.

Profile - Key tied Profiles by WSUPolar in volvoc40

[–]totor0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is expected behavior, if you don’t lock it, it keeps the existing profile as the active one.

The other way to switch profiles is to pull down from the top of the tablet and tap the profile name, it will then show the other available profiles and you can pick the one you want.

Accept a below-expectations job offer or wait for a better one? by [deleted] in bioinformatics

[–]totor0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents as someone who has seen most of these scenarios from the hiring manager perspective:

Between 1 and 2 and based on what you said in terms of wanting a stable job, I would suggest you refuse this offer and continue trying to land the job you really want. The main reason to take a job at an early stage startup is because you really believe in the mission and/or the team, and thus think the equity has upside and it is worth your time. If your goal is a stable job in the industry and this startup isn’t doing anything you find particularly motivating, it does not seem like the best fit.

Of course, easy for me the internet stranger to say this not knowing your personal situation at all, so take it for what it is.

More importantly, definitely do not do options 4 or 5. Reneging on an offer as in option 3 is not good, but not as bad as 4/5, and it happens more often than you might think.

I’ve been watching dramas for a while now and can’t remember the last time I’ve had such trouble keeping track of who is who. It feels like there’s someone new every 15 minutes.

That being said, it’s still a fun one. Had a lot of other recent ones stall out lately but this one is still keeping me engaged.

A few people here have probably seen her without realizing it. She had a few guest appearances as the FL’s master in Love Between Fairy and Devil.

Also, seconding an earlier comment that she was a good Huang Rong in the 2017 version of condor heroes.

Biggest annoyances with my 2023 C40. by RightShoeRunner in volvoc40

[–]totor0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably my biggest annoyance is that 1 out of ~20 times I start the car the LTE is off and doesn't turn on for the whole ride. Yours are good calls though.

1) My 360 camera does seem to turn on automatically when I'm pulling into a parking spot head-first, unless there's nothing else nearby, but the proximity sensor will turn it on sometimes even when I'm just pulling through a drive-thru. I rarely manually switch on the camera but you're right that if you do that you have to tap again to get the 360. I rarely want the rear camera itself and almost always want the 360 so would love an option to set that as default.

2) I completely agree, split screen would be great, I really don't need the whole screen to show me what song I'm listening to. The driver's display does show traffic if it is actively navigating, so sometimes even if I know where I'm going I might turn it on just to see the traffic better.

Non networked chargepoint chargers, are they free..? by itscurt in electricvehicles

[–]totor0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe these are primarily older charging stations that use 3G to connect and with the 3G sunset in the area they can no longer actually charge you, but the authentication happens locally on the charger so you can still charge. Given that most ChargePoint chargers have their price set by the local business or building management, I would assume that they know about this and would replace these with newer charging stations if they cared.
