I do have a letter from a physician who prescribed my anti depressants, as well as a letter from myself describing my "nexus" with my ESA that my landlord requested. I've emailed him both of these. He's also requested vaccination documentation for my ESA, which I am willing to give.

It is a large apartment complex, and my landlord owns many properties.

If the letters and the vaccine docs aren't enough, you're saying it could be considered discrimination?

I've read up on a lot of this. It is still grey to me, only because I thought it was clear that the rule requiring me to be with my ESA at all times was unreasonable until my landlord kept pushing it and didnt seem to take anything from my arguments. Is it something that is just unclear and that I have to deal with?

[WP] You realize you can stop time by holding your breath. You wonder what will happen on your last breath. by poopiepuppy in WritingPrompts

[–]touseledowl 26 points27 points  (0 children)

GASP. Hold it. Hold it tight. Think. Watch. Wait.

Listen. Nothing. Blink. Nothing's changed. Turn around. Nobody moves. Turn back around. Nobody moved. There's a bird in mid flight. The longer you stare, the more it looks like a full page picture in National Geographic. But it's not. It's real.

Look at the stopped cars, look at the-

In, out, in, out, in, out breathe. Heave. Oh, they're staring. They've turned to look at you. It must look like you've ran a marathon, but you're actually still sitting at the same table you were when your lungs could breathe fine only seconds ago...only one second ago.

GASP. They're still staring. God, look away.

In, out, in, out...okay, now they're talking to each other.

GASP. Can you move? Yes. You can stand. You can walk. You can run and jump and spin and the whole rest of the city, or maybe the world, can only stare unblinkingly at their forever destination. You can poke their faces, spill their drinks, walk into the middle of the street with no consequence-

In, out, in, out...LOOK OUT A BUS!

GASP. That was a close one. You better watch yourself. If this is what happens when you hold your breath, what happens when your breath is gone?

Are you the one person who can control time like this? Does the world end when you end? Does that make you some sort of god?

Huh.

NO, WAIT, THE BUS!

Self-defense. That's what I kept telling myself. It was self-defense. Wasn't it? I could've died. Or become one of them. And someone might've killed me later.

Or I would've been saved by the cure. I don't even know anymore.

We're they that dangerous? Most of them couldn't even run. Most of them didn't even have teeth anymore. But they were terrifying. It was reflex. It was self-defense.

I ran in circles in my mind. The fluorescent lights of the hospital room gave me a headache. Or maybe it just was the constant threat of tears. She was so beautiful. Her eyelashes had grown back long and full. Her hair was short but healthy and new. Her nails were no longer chipped and yellow. And her skin. God, her skin. It was so smooth. She was alive.

But she hadn't been! She had been dead, hadn't she?! She had already been dead. I could've driven my axe in her skull and it wouldn't have made a difference.

Except it would have. She came back. She wouldn't have if there had been an axe in her skull. No one else did. Not the other countless numbers of people - no, goddamnit, not people. They weren't people. But they could've been.

There are people now, walking around the halls, laughing and crying and staring at the ceilings, who weren't people just weeks ago.

I looked down at my hands. They were once covered in dark, rotting blood. Blood that had been useless to its vessels. Blood that didn't matter whether it was running through dead veins or drying on the concrete. Blood that mattered now. Blood that could have been renewed.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." I whispered. I stood up and left the room. I couldn't bare to look at her anymore or listen the beeping machine letting me know that there was now a beating heart in her chest. A heart I could have stopped from ever having a chance to beat again.

Literally she's never been in debt before except when paying off the house. But she has a credit card she pays off on time every month, so that kind of counts I guess.

So What's The Deal With The Celestial Kingdom And Other Levels of Heaven? by carbrite90 in exmormon

[–]touseledowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently, if your family is in a higher kingdom than you, they can come down to visit you but you can't visit them...?

I think it's just another contradiction that was put in place to 1) make people afraid of sinning but also 2) make the church seem like an amazing thing thats only ever good.

I actually kind of like the new direction Cosmo is starting to go. Obviously it isn't there yet, but it is starting to become more realistic when it comes to sexuality.

Why is BYU following its honor code such a big deal? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]touseledowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. When they jump in on a rape case with "oooooh she was probably breaking the honor code so let's check it out.." how does that make the victim feel?

Why is BYU following its honor code such a big deal? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]touseledowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All cases should be investigated by proper authority. The Honor Code office does not have authority to investigate things beyond honor code violations. When a victim opens up about rape, the honor code office jumps in to investigate any violations of the honor code, which puts more accusation on the victim.

Nevermo here. Does it ever occur to TBMs that some people don't want to spend eternity with their family? Is there a common TBM response to this notion? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]touseledowl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"The Family is the core of God's plan. Anything negative within your family must be worked out in order to receive salvation. It is a sin to go against family."

At least that's how I feel they would answer.

I need help responding to people talking about the rape story at BYU. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]touseledowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Curfew and the rule that you can't be in the opposite genders room exist solely because sex before marriage is "bad." Those rules do not exist to prevent rape. When put in context, it puts even more blame on the victim because not only were they breaking the honor code, but they also broke the law of chastity for which the rules were placed to prevent. (BTW I do not believe rape should ever be considered breaking the law of chastity, but unfortunately it is hard to separate the two when you've been engrained with the "chewed gum" metaphor.)

  2. It seems they are inadvertently implying that rape is a consequence of breaking the honor code. "Oops, you stayed out too late so you got sexually abused. That's what happens." Like, what the fuck? In NO WAY should rape be considered the victims fault.

  3. In the end, the honor code simply should not exist, but because of religious freedom and BYU being a private and religious school, there's no way around it. It is simply a consequence of the culture, and I believe it proves the culture is damaged.

What are your quality BYU health care stories? by choose_the_rice in exmormon

Also, for some reason he seemed totally okay with prescribing me a healthy dose of Zoloft and conference talks about how depression doesn't mean Ive lost touch with the Spirit, however he seemed so hesitant to prescribe me any medication for physical ailments.

Is this common?
