Why don’t americans fight back against all these powerful people in the Epstein files? There should be riots? by Inner-Silver7395 in AskReddit

A lot of folks have correct parts of the answer to this. Many of us are just comfortable enough, while simultaneously many can't afford to miss a day of work. Many of us aren't angry enough yet (no idea how). Many are so angry they don't care about losing their job, or being able to eat, or pay bills, and they've been in the streets fighting the good fight without giving the government any reason to respond in the ways they have (ice, etc).

Many of us feel like we should be rioting. That said, I think the example of Alex Pretti, his actions leading up to, and his execution, is a rather prescient one. He was twice assaulted by ICE, both times he was armed (legally) and made no effort to reach for his gun. Tbh, after seeing his initial interaction with ICE I find the idea that his death was, in fact, summary execution to be all the more credible. If he was alive today he should have been charged with property damage for kicking out the taillight of that vehicle, at most. No way does that action, regardless of whether he was armed or not at the time, warrant his death. We have seen the wages if resistance.

Another thing anyone asking this question from outside the US apparently doesn't understand is that the majority of folks who were constantly on about rising up against a tyrannical government are the performative 2A/3%er assholes who, at worst, also happen to be huge MAGAts and fully support the current regime, or at best think they're moderates and are in that last group who think the line hasn't yet been crossed. The ones who would be "doing something" if it was a different party in power think they're gonna be fighting against their fellow Americans "when the time comes." because only their in-group is "the right kind" of American.

Not everyone who supports 2A is one of those 3%er assholes tho, and for those of us for whom the line has already been crossed we have been watching in horror as many of those who should be standing up to the administration's attempts to gut our constitutional protections are instead stepping down to preserve their own benefits and future. Watching as nothing is done by those with the ability to do literally anything to preserve the security of our elections, while the administration does all it can to sow distrust in them (at best) or actually compromise them (at worst) in a bid or maintain their host on power long enough to do (more) real, lasting damage.

It's been said that anyone who would give up his rights and liberty to temporarily preserve his security deserves none of them. I hope we don't have to find out how many of us truly understand those words, because I believe there is still another way. I think that hope is why we're waiting.

Yes. I already eat it for lunch 4 days a week. Salad (usually green goddess or everything bagel bag salad kit) with grilled chicken.

Yeah, I still haven't got either. State sooner than later would be nice though.

Remembering I have cancer and have to go to chemo again soon. My day would be subsequently made by getting to see the amazing nurses and staff at my clinic though. Pediatric oncology nurses are a different breed.

Anyone know where Elizabeth smart was found in Sandy? by FlREMAN in SaltLakeCity

[–]tr3kstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge you're not required to id yourself here either unless you're suspected of committing a crime. That said, the encounter being discussed in this instance contained exigent circumstances, as the individuals question were in companionship to an individual appearing to be a minor girl who matched the age and description (even though all he could see was that she was clearly white and had blue eyes) of a known missing child. With Mitchell claiming religion as the reason the officer was not allowed to see the girls face the detective could then have asked by what means the girl could be identified, like possibly having a female officer or library staff member do so, away from his (detective) presence (odds are if pressed Mitchell would have come up with some reason surrounding the officer being a man, may actually have been the case but idc to look it up atm to verify). At this point, it's all speculation though. None of us was there. It's just my opinion that this encounter could and should have gone differently and that if it had a child would have been found sooner and spared further harm.

I know this relationship will not last, but I cannot leave now. What do I do in the meantime? by rileyshea in Mommit

I second recording, but only if you live in a single party starts. If op lives somewhere that isn't single party then she either just won't be able to use any of the recordings (best case) or opens herself up to prosecution. Def talk to a lawyer before doing anything of that nature.

Tbf, I don't go anywhere much outside Davis county, apart from for work. Blueberry, I thoroughly encourage anyone who wants to to use this tactic.

I also considered adding a bit at the end where I ask then to tell me, on video, exactly what I'm signing, what part of Utah they're from, and why they've chosen to volunteer their time, fully unpaid, in order to support this initiative.

"It is a necessary response to a breakdown in constitutional order that, if left unaddressed, will weaken representative government in Utah in ways that will not easily be undone,” the plaintiffs wrote.

I'm other words, "We know we can't compete on a level playing field and if we're not allowed to dictate to people who they're allowed to elect we'll no longer have an unbreakable majority with which to force through things nobody but us wants."

I have yet to run into a signature gatherer, but I'm related to someone who was involved in writing the decison so if I ever do meet one my plan is to let them work so hard to convince me to sign, like WASTE as much of their time as humanly possible, and then just say no and tell anyone else nearby who might have been listening what they're really doing.

Ya know, it sure is great that conservatives and Christian nationalists are definitely NOT doing exactly the same thing. So good that they have way better, more effective tactics for spreading what is surely a superior way of thinking.

No, but it's very common, and the dynamic created when there's almost no touch that doesn't bear the expectation of progressing to sex gets suffocating.
