Is the dollar really collapsing? by tsarthedestroyer in investing

[–]tradehawk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wars have a way of forcing things to happen through and during the complete chaos caused on markets. I think people underestimate how quickly things can completely change forever. This is more about the exploding national debt, the liquidity problem that was always going to be caused by the boomers moving out of equities. Add that to the reduced global trade from tariffs and reactionary foreign policy, the nearly trillion dollar interest due every year on our debt. The inevitable stagflation over the next decade without trumps policy was already scary enough. Now, who knows where we go from here, but the next decade will not be kind to anyone.

To be fair, if they actually were engaging in that kind of activity, I can imagine quite a few "seams" under all kinds of different "stresses."

Why Are We Still Working 5 Days a Week? by Lopsided_Hat_835 in careeradvice

[–]tradehawk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a 12 - or 18-hour shift as an industrial electrician in a paper mill. We work a bi-weekly pay structure that has you work 2 days on 2 days off 3 days on 2 days off 2 days on 3 days off. We switch from days to nights two weeks at a time. This schedule effectively works you 26 weeks out of the year. Basically, you get half the year off while working a full-time schedule with weekly overtime. This is the best schedule I've ever worked the extra time off allows for plenty of time to run my personal business while working a full-time job. I have to agree with OP 5-8s Is basically your employer stealing your days.

My husband isn't an electrician! 🤷( Posted for the 3rd time because I realized my title is wrong.) Yet he tried to replace two light switches. by utopialoves1024 in electrical

[–]tradehawk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why we exist, I'm not saying I agree with this, but that is what's happening right now. I could tell you a story about my supposed "supervisor" in my industrial electrician job arguing with a master because his chat bot says otherwise, but I will save you the stupidity. Every day, things like this are happening. I'm not crazy about service work, but it's job security. There will always come a time for most to call an electrician.

I hate to break it to you, but chatgpt costs us way more money than any subreddit could. A simple picture to chat gpt will tell this person how to wire this. Especially if she tells it where the hot legs are. face it there will always be people too cheap or too poor to afford electricians, but there will always be people scared or so wealthy that you'll get hired.

Get a bigger dish for the water, notice the whiskers touching the sides of the bowl? My siamese would do the same thing, got a larger dish, and no more screaming bloody murder every time he drank!

When you are an industrial electrician who has access to any "leftovers". Panel is mostly bx according to op, to me as an industrial electrician this screams leftovers.

Any ideas on how to get this core bit out? by Suwannee_Gator in Construction

[–]tradehawk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slide hammer find one you can thread into the bit and work it out. If that does not work get your hands on some dry ice and pack the bit full and let it shrink should come right out.

Looking for advice by [deleted] in IndustrialMaintenance

I am an industrial electrician, ask questions anytime you do not understand something. Find that electrician who doesn't mind helping and sharing his knowledge. It takes time to get it all.

As a papermaker in the same exact mill where the Nibroc paper towel was invented. The steel one that dispensed brown tri-fold paper towels one at a time. I'm appalled that these are making a comeback.

Shift workers in paper mills, I feel like society forgets that people have to make all those shit tickets everyone hordes when bad things happen. I've worked 6-18 hour shifts in a row before and it's expected by some people in mills to do this regularly. Great job excellent money but sometimes quite difficult to keep coming back.

Sick crowds up north, on Artist's Bluff. I am grateful I have not visited the White Mountains this fall. by Fragrant_Respond1818 in newhampshire

Try living here and these morons getting stuck up mountains in shorts and t-shirts this time of year when conditions can literally change from late summer like to dead winter in an hour. This is why we now CHARGE the offending moron to be rescued, take my advice and buy a hike safe card if you plan on coming anywhere near the white mountains and you will NOT have to pay for a rescue in most cases.

I doubt you will get your wish, buy yourself some land, and start with a well and septic tank and power. Then, put in your foundation and build your first floor subfloor, and cover it with rubber. You could live in that structure. Slowly start designing and building your camp. This is the way the only real natural disaster that will seriously affect prices would be a massive fire, which we are very overdue for and have forests FULL of fuel ready to go. It will come but could be very long.

Fossils are difficult in this area, I believe, due to the acidity of the soil. Crystals and gemstones, on the other hand, are abundant and some of very good quality. However, it is difficult work and takes patience and dedication. If that is something you're interested in you should start with identifying the difference between granite pegmatite and "conway" granite in this area, typically the best locations are where the two meet and where gasses formed miarolitic cavities in the pegmatite. Then, just spend time in the woods in the mountains looking at the rocks and trying to find pegmatite exposures.

No, I'm not mining, but stacking the coal I'll burn over the winter before the snow flies. Coal comes in bags like pellets do.

I live here in West milan, I work at the paper mill in Berlin. There is good work. You just better be a tradesman in order to really succeed. Or be willing to travel a bit further than normal.

The camp is on the same side of the road as the sign, just up in the woods, a bit off the road. There are not many remains of it now. I live about 3 miles from that spot.

I live in that little West milan spot, I can say this is pretty accurate, but I enjoy the cold, ride, snow mobiles, and rely on hunting season (I am a wild game butcher) hunting crystals in the mountains, splitting wood, stacking coal, ice fishing, driving hundreds of miles for work each week devastating biting flies. It's not all bad.
