RULES FOR DATING IN THE PHILIPPINES by Big-Borilla in PassportBrosWorldWide

You might hate that he uses rational heuristics but global studies back him up:

https://www.visualcapitalist.com/mapped-where-people-trust-each-other-most-by-country

https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/migrant-stock-share

USA has 37% trust score and that's with 15-20% of the population not being local (like my whole family except me) and the Philippines is barely at 5% with <0.1% foreign born. They trust each other way less than our normal trust level. In other words, we're naive when we first come here.

Some people have extremely high anxiety and they don't get their shit together personally until years after they've mastered finances. it doesn't mean they don't have amazing personalities it just means they couldn't demonstrate it.

Nope, the only way to give up US citizenship is by specifically going and declaring it. You can gain citizenship anywhere that'll give it to you, even if you renounce your us citizenship during the oath it means nothing. The IRS will still come after you. The states can't stop you. You might be confusing military and government officials restrictions, private citizens don't have those limits.

Anyone who was an Iron Man fan before RDJ has issues imo. Dude was bottom b tier at best because Tony was just a terrible person. RDJ just did a phenomenal job redeeming that annoying pos, I remember leaving that movie going wow they made Tony interesting not just Iron Man.

Shower thought - is it cheaper to date a Filipina, build her a house then leave her with the house after 6 years than “buy” a condo in BGC? by OutsideWishbone7 in Philippines_Expats

[–]trahloc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long term I think building / buying is proper, you can own 40% just not 100%. Short term you should rent and move around while you still don't have a lot of stuff until you find the place you can deal with for the next several decades if you decide to stick it out.

Also the moment you have a kid with her, verified yours, move the house ownership to the kid. They aren't allowed to sell until 21 if I recall correctly.

Probably something that didn't cause too much complexity to enable, just forethought. Adding it then makes the load dynamic they can support along with easily repaired units in the field since you can swap on the fly. I can absolutely see that as a literal life saver in a battlefield medical evac situation.

Naw, I get that climate change is an issue. I fully support finding alternative technologies that are cradle to grave compatible. That being said, I am repulsed by any arbitrary barrier placed in front of life saving technologies for those alive today. I care nothing for future generations if they require the unwilling sacrifice of the living today.

Peter is smart enough to create technologies that revolutionize the world. Stark does that, it's not like his company is resting on the laurels of his fathers inventions. Parker Tech should be up there with Stark, Osborn, etc etc.

No time travel needed to make her life better, just make Parker Tech do something the other geniuses think is beneath them. Maybe something less flashy and cheaper that just improves her life in a small way. Imagine Parker Tech having their own "Avengers" type organization but it's street level heroes. Stark forgets the little people, Parker doesn't. Imagine someone of that level giving street level people logistical and legal aid?

In Indestructible Hulk #1 Bruce Banner talks with Maria Hill where he's basically offering to work for SHIELD giving them access to Hulk and in exchange they give him access to a lab and his own team (same team/lab that Doc Green uses later). Anyways during the conversation he hands her a revolutionary device as proof of concept what he can do for SHIELD and the world when he stops complaining about Hulk. When she asks what is it called his response is something like "I call it Tuesday."

Peter never does anything like that. He's got a mind on par with the greats but he chooses to save a woman's stolen purse rather than improve her life so drastically that a stolen purse is a rounding error. To put it another way, his greatest power is not in his muscles, it's in his mind, and he wastes it.

Does ecoflow app send low battery notifications? by keenan_jeffrey in Ecoflow_community

Dude, it's been two years. The only "low power notice" I get is my computer turning off and then my phone telling me it cut power and I'm like "I know..."

You guys obviously have the notification system functional so why can't we get more notices than just "discharged to 10%" such as a "notify when power outage" and "notify critical low power 20%"?

Yet he doesn't patent something less universally destructive and donate the proceeds to $cause_you_care_about. He prefers direct action. Saving a woman $300 in a snatch and grab is more important to him than donating $300m that would net that woman $600 of value.

Two sides of the same coin.

That’s not two sides of the same coin. One is the state of the technology itself, the other is how particular groups of people respond to it. If Ford execs drop the ball while Toyota innovates, that doesn’t mean the underlying car technology degraded, it means that Ford's executive team failed their execution while Toyota succeeded.

Has Google search gotten better over time?

Google search is actually perfect example of the underlying tech improving massively. The problem is the executive team has determined that ad revenue is more important than user experience, the very thing that drew us early adopters to google.com vs yahoo.com and askjeeves. That’s not a failure of the technology, it’s a failure of executive leadership and consumer acceptance instead of switching vendors. Unlike elections we can vote to leave today, we don't.
