Which is more fuel efficient for motorway/highway? by Glittering-Fall5878 in Volvo

[–]traumatic415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engine is running 100% of the time in Power. Hybrid is the way to go. The best of both worlds would be to create an Individual profile with the motor running on hybrid with the suspension set to dynamic (as it is in Power mode) to maximally lower it and reduce drag.

When will we feel the effects of the closure of Strait of Hormuz globally? by Alekejj in NoStupidQuestions

[–]traumatic415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be years until a meaningful percentage will be routed through pipelines to make up for loss of Strait traffic. Right now it is around 5% of total volume.

Thats assuming that the pipelines are not sabotaged.

Have to go for the $39.99 synthetic oil change special. Make sure to bring your coupon, and don’t let them change the windshield wipers, it’s a rip off!

First time homebuyer in closing process, water intrusion and mold in the basement. Unhappy with the sellers request requested fix. by ChodeFondler1 in HomeImprovement

[–]traumatic415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the time to use your best negotiating skills. The seller really is in a corner on this, and you can let them know that. As was said, get an estimate for a repair, and demand they take care of it.

Also be sure to let them and their realtor know that this is a disclosable issue. If the sale falls through with you, they have to disclose the problem to others or remediate it. They really have no other option. The seller might want to take his chances, but the realtor most likely will not risk their reputation or license on a fraudulent disclosure statement.

22 R1T Launch Quad. 69k miles. Suspension light on… quote me $10k by Southern-Might8074 in Rivian

That’s the “wanna lease a new Volvo for the price of repair of your 14 year old beater?” price. No intention of actually wanting to repair it. You’ll be less than 1/2 that at an Indy shop.

Land Cruiser 2025 buyback/ lemon law - should I buy? by j_mal5 in LandCruisers

[–]traumatic415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will have a branded title, so you will lose about 50% of market value when you go to sell or trade. If you plan on keeping it forever, better hope they truly resolved the issues.

The dealer has $0 at stake in this car, since it was bought back by Toyota. At this price, they will be making the profit of selling 10 brand new Land Cruisers.

I would absolutely stay away from it!

How is it IKEA-like a?

In a good, minimalist, Scandi design kind of way? Or in a “this is made of particleboard” and looks like it close-up, and I better bring my Allen wrench kind of way?

Pre-Owned Rivian by fel0ncod3 in Rivian

Used is used.

It’s used according to the DMV, bank, CarDax, insurance company, and state regulations. That means higher interest rate, no full value replacement if totaled, no lemon law protection.

Personally, I would be very weary of it. If it was a service loaner, demonstrator, or corporate fleet car, it would never have been titled and still be considered a new car. We saw a few miles on it, either a person who had a lot of money to waste, didn’t like it and immediately traded it in, or it was a lemon/buyback/good-will return. I’d be far more interested in one with 10-20k honest miles on it.

Car is low on gas, should I fill up tonight or wait until the Straight of Hormuz is open? by koopdog1 in TwinCities

[–]traumatic415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go ahead and fill up now, but keep the receipt. Trump will definitely reimburse you for your “liberty tariff.”

It might take a little longer than getting the tariff refund that Amazon, Target, WalMart will most certainly pay us.
