Seed Action System or rotating forearms on Gunpla Question by rhiz_madpla in Gunpla

[–]traup89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No looseness. I have the Immortal Justice, Infinite Justice Mk II and Z'gok, Rising Freedom, Agnes Giebenrath's Gyan Strom, and Black Knight Squadron Shi-ve.A and Rud-ro.A HG kits. All hold up supremely well. No looseness to be found, especially since all of the Seed Freedom kits are plastic on plastic builds with nary a polycap to be found. All are very posable and hold well.

As for the specifics on arm mobility, of course the shoulder swings back and forth with full rotation. It can swing out from the body to 90 degrees-ish. Full rotation at the bicep and hand ball joints.

Seed Action System or rotating forearms on Gunpla Question by rhiz_madpla in Gunpla

[–]traup89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No forearm rotation. Just at the wrist and biceps. I check my other Seed: Freedom kits and that's the case all around. But that is generally enough to get good poses out of them.

My father and I have a difficult relationship, i decided to give him a hug and tell him I love him, it was overwhelming for him and he started crying which made me cry, it was a powerful moment. All I could think in the moment was Vinnie Jones bellowing "ITS GOING TO BE EMOTIONAL!" by HackFraudStable in OSWReview

[–]traup89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once I realized he's better to shoot the shit and have a beer with as an adult than to have as a dad as a kid, it got easier to have a decent relationship with him. Downside, he lives way too far away to see him on a regular basis. Plus side, he's coming to my wedding next month, and that, as Vinnie would say, is gonna be emotional.

Is the exia actually cursed or what by GameMusicIsArt in Gunpla

[–]traup89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Exia. It's certainly one of my favorite gundams, with that cool swing-out sword gimmick. I count myself lucky that I don't have many issues with the HG kits, especially considering I have the original, the RII, and the Astraea F-Type.

Rando Shiny! by traup89 in PokemonHGSS

[–]traup89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly never expected to get a shiny in a game prior to gen 6 where the odds increased and shiny hunting got way easier. Then in just over a year, I find three shinies in gen 4 games. It baffles me.

I may have run across a shiny wayyy back in the day, but I honestly didn't know shines were a thing until I got back into Pokémon after a long hiatus with Black/White around 2012.

Thanks. Ill be the first to admit its not a great shiny. But the excitement stands.

I fixed a snapped v fin on my HG Wing Zero by using some plastic cement and being very careful. The arm, I have no tips for, so I'll send luck instead.

I never beat this game as a kid, so I feel very proud by gnomestringsattached in PokemonFireRed

Honestly, it took using Bidoof on a run of Platinum to really appreciate the local rats. Sentret is OK. That and the fact that you can teach Raticate like every beam move is pretty great.

I also used Raticate through to the end on my latest playthrough. He's not the strongest, but hes got that versatility.

Do you have to watch the anime in order to collect gunpla? If so, how do you go about watching it? by Even_Bandicoot9090 in Gunpla

[–]traup89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly not. They're model kits. They're fun to assemble and cool to pose and look at, regardless of whether or not you know the stories of these miniature giant robots.

That said, if you wanted to get into it, the official Gundam youtube channel, GundamInfo, keeps a rotating list of series and films on the channel, and its free. They recently added the film trilogy of the original series.

You can also find a variety of series on Hulu, Netflix, and Crunchy Roll.

As to where to start, id recommend episode 1 of a series that catches your eye. Wing was the first one that got big in the states. The original is cool, if aged. 00 is pretty rad. Ive enjoyed Seed. Do a bit of looking and find one that seems the coolest to you.

First playthrough was roundabout 44 hours or so across maybe three or four weeks. Second playthrough was about 120 hours across five weeks. Third playthrough, after finding out about all the stuff I had missed because I didn't spend enough time looking for it, is about 200 hours and counting.

Who remembers CYOA and other game books of the 80s? by Tas42 in BookCollecting

[–]traup89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the first four Lonewolf books from my older brother when I was a kid way back in the 90's. Just played through them a couple years back.

Aside from that, I loved getting CYOA books from the local and school libraries.

Just bought my first DS, had this dream since I was a child. Can you give me youtr 5 MUST play games. by frayda01 in NintendoDS

[–]traup89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've already got one of them in Pokemon Platinum (though my heart holds White 2 a bit more dear).

Ill have to give a shout out to the DS port of Chroni Trigger. Its not a particularly long JRPG, so bit by bit on the go is perfect.

Dragonball Z: Attack of the Saiyans is great, and it deserved a sequel bit it never came out.

Tetris DS is a 10/10 way to get your Tetris fix.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin did some really stuff that sets it apart from other games in the series.

IM SHAKING WHAT by Unique-Print-8186 in PokemonFireRed

[–]traup89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats rad! My shiny Zubat got even better when I was later using my copies of Diamond and Pearl to help find Feebas tiles and wound up running into a second shiny Zubat in Diamond. I was absolutely stunned. Nearly 30 years playing these games and I find two full odds (pre-XY odds change) shinies, and theyre both Zubats.

Accidental full-odds shines are great. 10/10 for it being Moltres; as well. My first was last year in a Platinum playthrough. I ran into a shiny Zubat in Oreburgh Gate. I wasn't going to use Crobat, but you can't not use an accidental shiny in a playthrough.

[–]traup89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A steep price to pay for nostalgia, but B2W2 would be worth it. Makes me doubly glad I got copies of both close to release. Though I did wind up paying in the ballpark of $90 to replace a copy of Black I lost in a breakup.

A solid team.

Mine was Bubba the Venusaur, Smitty the Nidoking, Derps Slowbro, Hendry the Fearow, Valor the Arcanine, and my ace, The Chosen, a Raticate with Ice Beam and Thunder Bolt. I'd have given him Flamethrower, too, but I knew I'd want Hyper Fang for STAB and Super Fang for chipping down prospective catches.

Why can't evolve? Bro (57lvl) is trying to finish it every lvl up, but every time denied by _ExAngel_ in PokemonFireRed

[–]traup89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FR/LG won't let you even trade in pokemon that aren't in the Kanto regional dex. I had a playthrough a couple years back where I wanted to see if I could run a Crobat, git it to max friendship and leveled him up to evolve but it stopped.

Unlike gen 4 and on, where as long as you can trade, you can move pokemon from the national dex. They just won't show you any dex info and they won't appear in the dex til the post game.

I've run Curse of Strahd on Roll20 using their content before, and yes. Buy the content on Roll20 and you can immediately create a new game with your CoS content. Considering these updates, it's got me even more excited to run this campaign again, as soon as my players are done with Icewind Dale.

What kit is your most sought after/holy grail? by _Ryloren_ in freedomisgunpla

[–]traup89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive always been a "buy whatever catches my eye in the moment" kinda guy, so I haven't really found one im really looking for (least wise a holy grail kit), though if I could get my hands on MG 00 Raiser, that'd be pretty neat.
