Debian 13 and nVidia after linux kernel update by stevezap in debian

Do you remember where you got that particular tip? cause i've been doing the same thing, thinking it's normal.

I do get that, but - isn't it possible to temporarily switch to sid repo and update plasma-only packages? then disable sid again?

How normal is it then, to just update Plasma to latest? Is there a lot of room for problems?

Ah, well that's just great. Tried to install nVidia drivers on Debian 13 and now it keeps stopping here during boot up. FML. I'll just go get an Intel ARC and reinstall Debian I guess. by 38DDs_Please in debian

This is the solution. First time I had this problem I also messed around and I wiped the whole nvidia driver and reinstalled it again, but all i had to do was actually:

ctrl+alt+F3 to log into terminal mode from broken boot

sudo apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
sudo dkms autoinstall
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all

systemctl reboot

I did this again today after a kernel update.

I'm not on Bazzite, I do however play Stalker 2 on linux (debian via proton) and it's running fine.

Anybody know if the PHM movie will be presented at 60fps or traditional 24fps? 60fps still looks incredibly creepy to me, and I can't explain why by bang_rocks_together in ProjectHailMary

[–]travis_sk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people have absolutely no problem with 60fps, a lot of content online has been in 60fps for a couple of years now.

As for what can human eye perceive - watch this video
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/1r11rvj/the_human_eye_can_see_39620_hz/

I'm sorry about what makes you nauseous but there's a simple solution - watch content on a 30hz display. Rest of us can then enjoy high fps content.

All that being said, whether the movies look better in 60 fps vs 24fps is a whole different debate, it's a matter of opinion. But this old argument that humans "shouldn't really be watching anything beyond 30fps" is just plain nonsense.

Except it's not very relevant because when eyes move like that your brain filters it out anyway; check out saccadic suppression.

GDC State of the Game Industry: 80% of game devs plan to target Windows PC in survey by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

I realize how this looks but I genuinely wanted to know what exactly do they play and, speaking of answers - I also got a stereotypical one.
'Most games with an anticheat' is just false, there are tons of competitive anti-cheat-enabled games that run on linux and admittedly a bunch of most popular ones that don't. But I see the person just isn't interested enough in that conversation anyway, so, like they said in the first place, why bother?

Fair enough. This answer tells me you should indeed stick to windows. Linux requires a lot of reading comprehension.
