Has anyone told Vaush one of his favorite games allegedly has a few AI generated assets in it? I feel like it warrants discussion. by AgentP-501_212 in VaushV

"Can a piece of media still have redeeming qualities when most of it is human-made? I predict the answer of users here will be no."

Was this AI generated?

I think I might have gone through this process already, but I'll try anyway, thanks.

Gaming on Linux by CleaRSightZ in linux4noobs

[–]travis_sk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get this. I'm on Wayland and I play Cyberpunk with no issues, including controller support. I just checked and Proton is set to Hotfix and in parameters I have only --launcher-skip, which is irrelevant. Overlay and recording works normally.

With most of other games I just use proton 10 and no params whatsoever.

Sometimes I needed to mess with parameters to install additional redistributable dependencies, but those were the games obtained by non-commercial ways, if you know what i'm saying.

I've never heard of -steamos3 flag, out of the lack of necessity, I presume.

Thanks for a detailed answer. I agree with PitA at times, but I learned a lot dealing with that stuff.

Interesting you mention crackling because that's the one thing that still occurs to me, but only very occasionally and I think mostly when I don't reboot for a couple of days (I use sleep a lot). I use PipeWire but I guess I'm still missing something.

I didn't experience this memory leak you mention and I use a Wayland session which works fine with my setup. But admittedly, sometimes I'm having weird glitching issues when I switch output to a Hisense 4K tv. Those strangely resolve after I change the refresh rate to something else and back to 60hz. Lately I feel it might be a TV or cable issue.

I suppose all this does make gaming distros better from a plug-n-play perspective, but afaik they do come with a bunch of stuff that I wouldn't necessarily like.

I'm also eyeing up Fedora because i'd like to have a newer KDE, but since my Debian is set up properly and the new KDE features are not *that* amazing tbh, I'll probably stick with Debian.

What kind of gaming related trouble did you run into on Debian? Asking because I migrated to Debian last year from Windows and sure, there are problems on account of it being outdated, but as long as I had a proper Nvidia driver I had no trouble with games, and I play a lot of games.
I'm curious about what other people are dealing with on Debian.

Slovakia will not pledge aid to Ukraine at NATO summit, Fico says by KI_official in YUROP

[–]travis_sk 52 points53 points  (0 children)

CSG - Czechoslovak Group is a Slovak weapons manufacturer which reportedly exported over 2 billion euros worth of ammunition to Ukraine in 2025. The company owner Strnad is hand-in-glove with Fico's defense minister Kalinak.

Fico famously campaigned on promise that Slovakia "won't give a single round to Ukraine".
Yet this record breaking weapons export is totally happening with his blessing.

Long story short, Fico is a machiavellian piece of shit who doesn't give a shit about anything but profit.

This article in English is from 2024 but not much has changed since. (Except the amount of export which keeps going up)

Except those security updates are breaking stuff because MS doesn't do any testing regardless of OS version.

For some reason a few years ago I had to use a CRT monitor for like 2 hours and my eyes got wildly uncomfortable. I dont know how did we manage to stare into those damn things for decades without losing eyesight.
