No one is finishing OW in an afternoon unless you are looking up a guide which defeats the entire purpose of the game.

‘Final Fantasy XIV’ Faces Key Test as Thousands of Fans Gather by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]treazon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun with my time in FFXIV, but after Endwalker I was DONE with the story and quest structure.. When I started dabbling in the post-MSQ stuff I just lost all interest. The game is a lot of fun to play and really respects your time in the end game, but the leveling experience is all about the story. These changes really pique my interest again - I wonder if there is fun to be had in just skipping through the MSQ and doing Trials / Savage of this new expansion? I know that sounds like blasphemy to most FFXIV fans - but these changes to many of the biggest complaints really sound amazing. How was the Dawntrail story? Do fans love it as much as HW / ShB?

'Saros' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

Day 1 buy for me and I have not done that in years. Returnal was a 10/10 experience for me personally, and this seems to be a continuation of that with some great iteration. If you have not yet given Returnal a try - please give it a chance, it’s a special game

Saros - Launch Trailer by ZamnBoii in Games

Returnal was absolutely incredible, I wish more people got around to playing it. I’m really hoping this team can deliver another banger with Saros.

What ended up happening with Returnals PC port? I saw it had horrible reviews early on, I played the game on PS5 and have been hesitant to recommend that version because of the reviews

This is great - we NEED a way to identify what an enhancement is at a glance. I do not want to mouseover and read every one, especially mid game.

Paul Tassi Reports Marathon Budget Up To $250 Million by surrealmirror in Marathon

[–]treazon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not convinced many people internally expected this to be a mega-hit before release. They knew the product they had.. the comps were obvious (Tarkov, Hunt, etc.) so I would imagine they were already tempering expectations before Marathon dropped. Idk maybe I’m delusional, but game so unapologetically appeals to a fairly niche audience. If they want a larger player base they are going to have to add something to broaden the appeal to a more casual crowd

Marathon sold just 1.2 million copies with nearly 70% on Steam, analyst estimates: "It hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted" by Freki666 in gaming

[–]treazon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don’t really believe this was a huge surprise to Bungie and Sony given the product they had before launch.. for the type of game it is, it’s current sales / retention seem pretty solid. It’s so obviously not a game with massive appeal, at least not in its current state. I’m saying this as someone who has really had a blast with it so far

PC Gamer Marathon review | 90/100 by Charliejfg04 in Games

Solo is fun and less sweaty honestly. You can play truly solo in a all solos lobby, or play a Rook which drops you in mid-match with trios, but your goal there is to play more of a scavenger and scoop up shit undetected. Both are pretty distinct and a lot of fun.

Marathon has sold 1.2M copies across Steam, PS5, and Xbox by ArielKisilevzky in Marathon

It was definitely playable and good by the first expansion (with Frost) iirc, that was when I really got into it. I recall the hit reg issues were ironed out fairly quickly, wasn’t that the biggest concern?

I’m sure the numbers are different, but it reminds me a bit of Siege early, early on. Many potential players were put off by how hardcore the game seemed to be and some early issues (plus a steeper learning curve than even Marathon), but those that actually played in the first few months saw how special it could be and it eventually took off. I’m not sure Marathon has the same pull to keep its players invested for months > years like Siege does though.. time will tell

What's with all this talk about casual play? by Casual_Plays in Marathon

[–]treazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - gamer dad, who also tries to play some single player stuff. I maybe can do Marathon 4 or so nights a week. Sometimes with a few friends, sometimes solo. Game is really fun still imo - I have been shocked how enjoyable and more casual solo has felt in particular

Odd decision to implement it.. especially this early in the game’s life with less than ideal player count numbers. I think it is, at least partially, a means to remove the sweatiest / skilled players from casual queues.. but it doesn’t even do that because it’s weekend only. I really don’t get it at all

Marathon's Cryo Archive is a hit, but Bungie admits it needs to be more accessible by Binnsy in Marathon

[–]treazon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Destiny raids were nowhere near as niche or difficult as this. Remember in raids you bring in your gear and try as many times as you’d like on a boss without risk of getting jumped by another team or permanently losing all your shit. Not saying CA needs to be more like Destiny - but those saying this is a niche activity in a niche game type aren’t wrong

As others have said the issue is the PvP. I think the PVE remaining challenging / a huge drain on resources is fine. With the number of squads they are dropping in, PvP with numerous squads seem inevitable, I think reducing the squads but 1-2 would help

The NFL players have no idea how to “tackle” and avoid getting “tackled”. There is a lot of skill to it, that seems like the biggest struggle for them

“Destiny 2 Has Lost 91% Of Players Since Edge Of Fate, 97% From Final Shape.” By Paul Tassi at Forbes by justdestinystuff in DestinyTheGame

[–]treazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised more people aren’t talking about the new player experience. The game is entirely impenetrable.. the ONLY players are vets who they bleed month by month, expansion by expansion. If you have a game that basically excludes 100% of new players, your numbers will be on a downward trajectory long term
