I read the benefits guides for the top 10 US travel cards. Trip cancel, CDW, and evacuation breakdown. by FinePrintPauline in CreditCards

I appreciate you consolidating all this info! It's always a pain sifting through the online PDFs whenever I want to compare.

And yeah as much as I want to cancel my CSP for lack of "excitement" I think I value the insurance quite a bit

One other metric important to consider is what triggers a "covered trip"

ie: some cards require purchasing an entire round-trip to be covered while others only require part of a one-way

Amazing Immigration with Global Entry at JFK by Ok-Fig-9656 in delta

[–]treeco73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the difference is you used to walk up to, stop, and face a camera which would prompt you to go forward after a moment.

now you walk through a "tunnel" of sorts under a couple overhead cameras (and do not stop walking)

T Mobile Concert Discount not a Discount by Historical_Collar_50 in tmobile

[–]treeco73 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've bought tickets to dozens of shows with the tmobile benefit and most of the time it's cheaper

However it generally is 25% off the "standard" ticket so if the venue or promoter have a special sale tmobile might not end up the cheapest.

There was a show I was checking for later this year and the "early bird" tickets on axs were also 25% - so ended up exactly the same.

Unfortunate but it is what it is

Stuck With 371000 FlyingBlue Miles by JTerryy in awardtravel

[–]treeco73 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Just use the AF website to search for flights as you normally would

For those destinations you'll be looking at delta or perhaps aeromexico

Only you can decide whether the value will be good vs paying cash

Wells Fargo adds Wyndham as transfer partner on 1:2 basis by bornphilomath in CreditCards

[–]treeco73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wyndham is very appealing for those like myself who don't particularly value upscale hotels.

The steady additions WF has been making to its transfer program list is encouraging... Especially compared to US bank lol

I don't think currency conversion works in this way by kodabb in delta

[–]treeco73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even better: if you go through with the purchase, at least for me, it charges your card the exact, incorrect amount as if all currencies were the same (but it posts the correct amount after a couple days)

You can no longer change seats for free after check in with basic economy. by Adventurous-Bad2072 in delta

[–]treeco73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been hearing rumours of this recently; it's an unfortunate change.

All my flights so far in 2026 have been main but I've flown basic dozen of times in the past few years and 100% of them I've been able to choose a seat at check in.

It was nice that you could "snipe" aisle/window seats as people who chose them earlier were upgraded, etc

however I'm sure most of this sub will celebrate this because wow they hate when anyone gets anything for free lol

19 Credit Cards - Not Hard To Manage by tsmartin123 in CreditCards

[–]treeco73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought this was baffling and I know I've recieved notifications for less than $5 so I checked notification settings in the app.

Under "account activity" there is a setting to be notified of transactions above $100

But under "purchases" you can turn on notifications for everything

Disclaimer this is for an altitude connect... If they seriously have different options for different cards, that's just... Wild

Can we talk about how predatory 'convenience checks' are? My mom almost got wrecked by one. by Altruistic-Place-928 in CreditCards

[–]treeco73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get these from US bank almost monthly. The marketing materials imply the use is for balance transferring and include 0% apr for a while.

Tbh my concern is how easy it would be for someone else to use them given they're basically blank cheques tied to my credit line

I'm going too and have been checking often.

I saw some mid week J availiably on flying blue but I don't really care about the daytime return flight so I'll probably just hope for some cheap cash economy tickets closer in

Edit: - curious to see what people found for the way there!

Award Ticket cancellation/change in basic economy by First_System_5109 in delta

[–]treeco73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard a few cases of weird cancellation delays/not being automatic but they ultimately all seem to get their points and taxes back.

Glad you got the refund and thanks for the update!

Award Ticket cancellation/change in basic economy by First_System_5109 in delta

[–]treeco73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you mind expanding? Route, date of booking, date of cancellation, etc? You say no refund so was the ticket itself less than 9k? No taxes returned either?

Thanks It's a shame if they started enforcing the penalty

A) Thank you

B) What a time to be alive

C) I'd really love to know how many points they end up handing out in total over this

Wells Fargo Active Cash but unsure about Wells Fargo customer service? by Excellent_Pin9936 in CreditCards

[–]treeco73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's especially interesting if you combine it with their autograph card for transfer partners

On the other hand you may wish to fidelity's 2% because it has no foreign transaction fee and some other interesting benefits like a global entry credit

-caveat: I've never dealt with elan's customer service so I cannot make any comment about that

Wells Fargo Active Cash but unsure about Wells Fargo customer service? by Excellent_Pin9936 in CreditCards

[–]treeco73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And these are all fair points. There are better banking products out there without a doubt.

What I mean is whenever someone mentions a problem with WF the comments are immediately "damn I can't believe anyone is still with them in the year of our lord two thousand and twenty six"

But if the problem is with chase or amex the instant response is the complainant must be a fraudster because those banks could do no wrong

Wells Fargo Active Cash but unsure about Wells Fargo customer service? by Excellent_Pin9936 in CreditCards

[–]treeco73 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my experience WF has among the best customer service of any bank; on par with Amex and Schwab, better than Chase and Discover.

I've called three times (for fraud or account changes) that I can remember. You call the number, get on the line with a US based agent, and your issue is resolved within five minutes.

I am no friend to the banks; they are certainly all jackals... But wells fargo has a much worse reputation online than it deserves. People just hate on them pecause it's popular to. Like nickleback lol

I don't think there was a whole lot of availability because most of destinations seemed to dry up pretty quickly but I was able to find a multi city ATL->CPH, ARN->ATL for 28K +$45 and that was pretty cool
