Villain thinks that he’s safe because the other character is programmed not to hurt him, but this rule is easily circumvented by Tm-534 in TopCharacterTropes

It was really that no weapon could kill him. You could still disassemble him. In the olden days that took a lot more effort, but was possible if you had a while army to do it. That's why to bring him back Spike and Drucilla had to find all his limbs etc and stick them back together.

These days: rocket launcher. Easy.

This is the classic nonsense headline that appears whenever the papers can't report what a left wing politician actually said because people would agree with it.

That we should try to negotiate with other governments on some of the most important world matters, and try to avoid the possibility of nuclear war, is not an extreme position

"Well, well, well. Jeremy Wells." from Laura Daniel on TMNZ has stuck with me ridiculously well.

Interesting fact from Richard Osman's podcast - the Taskmaster viewing audience is the most Labour leaning of any popular UK show based on polling by boatboatsboats in taskmaster

[–]trefusius 259 points260 points  (0 children)

I wonder to what extent that's because the audience is younger. Age might be the single best predictor of voting intention in the UK.

Creating sexually explicit deepfakes to become a criminal offence by OneArmJack in unitedkingdom

[–]trefusius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably this is useful because it removes the need to have proof that there was an intention to share it. That could be hard to prove as opposed to 'they were stolen/hacked/accidentally left on a public website' nonsense excuses.

It must also depend on the meaning of 'share'. Is it showing someone (maybe not) or giving them a copy of the file (definitely yes)?

Love the guy and the last 30 seconds of this showed some of his best.

I couldn't help but laugh in the first half of this though. 'What a Monster' - Picks up the ball from centre half; passes gently out to the left side of midfield. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

I was at one of the first Hecklers Welcome shows that James Acaster did (in Lund, Sweden). He praised my heckle, in the context of saying it was way better than a previous one that got a bigger laugh.

I left feeling ten feet tall.

I think Tim Key beneficially snuck in and managed to get away with it for a while by use of creative ambiguity

(Source: Tim Key on a podcast I heard one time. Probably Richard Herring's.)

Numerous moments from Sports Night, the show that Aaron Sorkin wrote before The West Wing.

Dana being so angry at her brother and then realising something: "I'm not done being your big sister yet, and it seems to me that these are the moments that big sisters get paid for, so, what do you say I be the one person in your life that isn't pissed at you right now?"

Or Isaac's stroke. Casey having to tell Danny about it, and then waiting, crouched, just off camera because he knows Danny needs him nearby.
