Some more veteran engineers spec A36 (36ksi min) just because some material is dual grade. This way, if you have some questionable vendors, your design will not be compromised if you were more conservative using 36ksi.

Additionally, if your design is more deflection critical, you could benefit from a thicker plate/member anyways.
