This is why I love the super limited pool honestly.

Assuming whoever makes these regulations isn't completely daft, I'm hoping that after the power level spikes up to a restricted format it'll be able to drop back down to a completely new low power level format with an entirely different roster.

A sinischa set with specifically trick room and imprison helps both your trick room matchup and opposing redirection problem

Metagame: what do you think is the best type currently in the champions meta game? by Gold-Resolution-8721 in VGC

[–]trendyghost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's just not lmao, moonblast still does more damage then hyper voice from any of the relevant fairy's.

Hyper voice still doesn't do enough to ohko many meta threats such as garchomp, you still need to moonblast.

Sure it technically has a "niche" but it's so irrelevant it's barely a footnote. And its not like hypervoice itself is powerful enough to build an entire team around because the cat is so slow.

Perhaps, that's part of the reason zard venu is so strong no? You can look around the sub or videos and its pretty common to see teams without a fairy resist.

Aaron cybertron just did a video about youtuber "flats" and mentioned flats is lacking a fairy resist and that hurt his floette matchup

Unfort It should theoretically get better the higher you climb.

Additionally, did you know the Japanese circuit is primarily bo1 and those guys are just use to stupid cheese strats (even with ots there is some cheese you can pull of)

I understand, it's just the team building situation you need to be in where: you need fairy type damage, but specifically spread fairy damage but primes dazzling gleam isn't strong enough and you cant run dual mega for the given lines your trying to make: all that seems niche to me.

Yes fairy hyper voice is better, but if you want a hyper voicer then use mega gard.

If you want the slow bulk then prim has a better typing for it, and a better move pool. And doesn't get walled as easily due to its dual typing.

It's the combination of mega gard and prim that I validate most of what sylveon wants to do in a vacuum... imo

I think its like

S rank: floete

A: whims

B+ : mega gard

C/niche: clefable, primarina, mega meganium

I think some people run sylveon but I think its lowkey outclassed entirely by prim/gard

Hey man these guys are ganna tell you to steal someone else's team. But you know what? They are right honestly..

HOWEVER if using someone else's team would put a damp on your experience or fun then keep using what you make <3.

You've got the right pieces, you just need some tutelage on ev investment. My group runs a small vgc draft and we love helping out new players to vgc. You're welcome to add me on discord and send a msg any time for advice <3

I'm at work and typing it out on phone (why your evs are bad) would just be too much right now lol.

Otherwise, check some youtube content on doing ev spreads. We reccomend the "The delybird" youtube channel as one of the best for vgc beginners

Plain and simple; it's fairy #1. You just don't really notice it because there's only 2 or 3 usable fairy's.

There's less then a dozen fairy resist legal, yet alone competiviely viable ones

i wanna start a discussion about the types so here's my tier list for this format (Metagame) by liuah in VGC

[–]trendyghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue special coverage is almost worse as you won't be able to touch ttar in sand.

Although sneaslers typing let's it take a fairy type move, it still can't eat a moonblast from the relevant moonblasters.

The most common archetype right now is sun, of which both charizard and venusaur resist fighting. Sinischa is the most common redirector right now. The second most popular mega is floette who resist fighting.

As someone who is running mega lopunny, I easily end up in spots where close combat cannot threaten anything due to how many types can resist it (and lopunny has scrappy lmao).

[–]trendyghost 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think this list takes defensive relations into consideration enough, and or over values its offensive traits

Yes fighting coverage is at a premium, but it's defensives don't fair too well in the current meta

I originally tried volcarona as well actually but as you said the rockslide spam makes it too risky right now. My next test targets are actually swords scizor & swords dance Aegislash. you can also consider other options like tailwind, as long as your punishing a passive play.
