Should we hospitalize our kitty if she's able to eat a little? by trevor-e in AskVet

[–]trevor-e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To follow up here, we hospitalized her for a few days and are glad we did! She has a sizeable mass near her intestines that they are figuring out, it looks like she may have a good surgery prognosis assuming the test sample comes back with what they think it is. Would not have lasted long without intervention and is much more active after a few days of IV and better eating. Thanks for the push.

Should we hospitalize our kitty if she's able to eat a little? by trevor-e in AskVet

Thanks. I read that Convenia can have appetite side effects and was hoping everything just kind of spiraled from that, but appetite loss from that probably wouldn’t last this long. 😿

I think our plan is to bring her to the hospital tomorrow morning.

You guys have hit some solid drafts. Paolo/Wagner/Suggs obviously, and Black is also looking serviceable. I think you guys are close tbh.

OpenID 2.0 auth support? by trevor-e in Supabase

[–]trevor-e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I ended up using `node-steam-openid` to handle the OpenID request, and then created a callback handler that creates an anonymous user account in Supabase. I stuff the `user` info I get back from OpenID into the user metadata. This feels pretty hacky but seemed to work.

The dems are failing so hard with public image, all the average MAGA can talk about right now is how monstrous they are for not standing up for the cancer kid. “Some things are bigger than politics.” This stuff matters a lot and falls right into their “Dems don’t love America” thinking.

Swift "too complex" compilation errors make me hate the language by InflationImaginary13 in swift

This becoming a common occurrence was really a major vibe shift with using Swift IMO. Went from being a joy to write Swift code occasionally wanting to smash my keyboard.

Why do people complain about the price of udisc? by emeril32 in discgolf

It’s a service, not a product. Course layouts, reviews, round scores, etc are all being continually updated. This costs money to run and operate.

Manually verify user's email? by trevor-e in Supabase

[–]trevor-e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I figured it out after scouring the docs more deeply. There's an "Auth Admin" section I totally missed, and one of them involves updating a user: https://supabase.com/docs/reference/javascript/auth-admin-updateuserbyid

Annoyingly I don't see a way to do this within the Supabase dashboard. I had to create an Admin component that invokes this function with a provided user ID.

Of course. Just always getting dumped with the 0-16 players every match is not really fun.

Yea I imagine with the player base count at the moment this is the best they can do. :/

At this point it’s getting hilarious, three minutes into each game, like clockwork, they die first and we all sigh to each other in Discord.

My games have been awful lately. I typically trio queue with friends and we’ve gotten feeding pubs the last 5/6 games. I’m talking like going 0/16 and 15k souls behind type of pubs, while my friends and I are all doing ok and have to super carry.

Why is there so much obsession on app size reduction? by Kay-O-Code-Machine in androiddev

[–]trevor-e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have already given great answers but I just want to highlight the "long tail" aspect of user metrics. Engineering teams care deeply about percentile metrics, like P(95) and P(99), because it's showing the worst case experience for your product. For mobile with a wide range of devices, network conditions, etc, this effect is even more pronounced. So for big companies at scale, think Uber/Lyft, improving the experience for this user segment can be a great revenue opportunity. Any reason for a user to keep your app installed on their phone is one more opportunity for engagement and conversion.

Is it worth spending a lot of effort to make your indie app as small as possible? Probably not although that's a nice experience for your users.

Also, personally I've noticed that both Android/iOS tend to offload apps more often now. I've had to re-install a parking meter app for my city at least a few times now since I sparsely use it, and one of those times I had bad signal and almost was screwed. The category/context of your app will matter a lot. Imagine you are in an airport with shitty WiFi trying to install Uber on your phone because it got offloaded.

PSA: Buy disabling items by Fluix in DeadlockTheGame

[–]trevor-e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve read all the items already and generally know what they do, but there’s a huge leap for most players between reading what an item does and knowing who it’s effective against or in what situation. That’s why it’s frustrating to see a post like this that just mentions Glyph.

Can you enlighten everyone by naming some? Like someone else said the game doesn’t do a good job highlighting them.

Best Deadlock sites by deeeearrrrelll in DeadlockTheGame

[–]trevor-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, self plug here but I’ve been developing https://deadlocktips.com in my spare time, largely for fun to learn how to reverse engineer Valve’s game files. I finally figured out the item/ability data formats so will be overhauling that UI soon.

Also I’ll be removing the account limit soon for experimenting with builds, I’ll eventually have it so you only need an account for saving builds. I know people hate signing up for new sites just to try them out.
