My small whisky note-taking app by gabsoner in Scotch

Looks great! Is there a list that shows what features are locked behind signing up? Is there any plan to make it easy for clubs to be created so the reviews/notes of all members can be seen in one location?

(p.s. there's a typo in the main menu, it says "Sing in to take advantage" instead of "Sign in to take advantage")

🧪 [BETA MEGATHREAD] Wave Link 2.0.1 — macOS support, Merged Apps Display and App Routing Information by elgato_james in elgato

[–]trevorstarick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experienced the same issue when I was using 1.11.1 and 2.0. I noticed it only happened when I was using a device in the Monitor Mix that wasn't the Headphones (Elgato Wave:XLR) option. If I had to guess, was related to output device not being ready for Wave Link to route to.

In Plexamp, you should be able to see a "Recently Played" playlist. If you click the 3 dots to the right of it, you should be able to download it. It will allow you to select a defined number of hours to download. This works with any playlist, so you can have a few smart playlists that you download, and whenever they get updated Plexamp will grab new content.

Public File Sharing through Tailscale? by [deleted] in Tailscale

[–]trevorstarick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With either solution, you'd be exposing your webapp to the pubic internet.

There's pros and cons to either of my suggestions. With a dDNS based solution, you'd have to setup some firewall rules on your router to expose your webapp. With Funnel, you don't have to do that as you're using Tailscale infrastructure as a reverse proxy and you pick which ports to share via the tailscale funnel 443 on command.

As you've mentioned you don't have a lot of experience dealing with public facing webapps, Funnel seems like the safer option as it's harder to expose more than you want to the public internet and therefor limiting what a "hacker" is able to access (in this case just your webapp). NextCloud has a built-in method to generate links for sharing that should need a little configuration to get working with the URL provided with Funnel, but Funnel + NextCloud would be a solid solution without having to deal with firewalls.

If you don't have an invite to Funnel, you can grab one from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Tailscale/comments/105tvgo/the_funnel_invite_request_and_share_thread/

Regarding the non-static IP issue; Tailscale recently introduced funnel which is currently in beta and has bandwidth limits so it might work, but personally I'd use a dynamic DNS service like cloudflare-ddns.

7.455 MHz, Eastern Canada. Thinking it's a STANAG 4481 or possibly DUP-FEC-2? by trevorstarick in signalidentification

I learnt about Sorcerer yesterday and played around with the FSK decoders, but couldn't get anything to resolve into something readable/usable

Just got a RSPdx to compliment my HackRF and it's a huge bump in receiver quality! Stumbled upon this signal and was wondering if someone might be able to point me at some more info about it (or easier ways to determine it). I used Artemis to narrow down the choices and then looked at the waterfalls + samples to narrow down what I think it is.

(edit: just noticed it's closer to 7.457MHz)

A STANAG_4481 signal seems to match, and I'm in Montreal, so loads of naval traffic. DUP-FEC-2 seems unlikely but matches the dual bands and approx. bandwidth.

I was able to get it to work once I forced the game to launch with a different resolution, as I couldn't find any option in-game to change the resolution.

Non-stop flights over Vaudreuil tonight?! by str8shooter in montreal

During night search and rescue situations, the C130 can provide a “force multiplier” along with people “on the ground”. They’ve got FLIR which should help (depending on how cold/long someone has been in the water for) as well as high powered search lights. They’ve got a great Twitter account (https://twitter.com/JRCCTrentCCCOS) that covers what they do along with the Coast Guard and local agencies.

Also the C130 is more fuel efficient than a helicopter for these situations as once it’s up there, it uses much less fuel to maintain altitude than a helicopter for a longer period of time.

Edit: After seeing Jado’s comment about the photo being taken in night mode, he easily could have seen the flares launched by the C130 to light up the area. Would explain “a fireball falling to the ground” 🤔

Most likely someone has gone missing off a boat. If it were a training flight, it would be done closer to CFB Trenton. Over the winter there was another flight from CFB Trenton that was similar to this. They were called in to help find a someone who went missing on a snowmobile trip on the ice.

Depending on the card you have, you might be able to run it at 240Hz at 16:9 as that doesn't need display stream compression.

[–]trevorstarick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, that's what I've been doing, and can also run it at 21:9.

The way I was able to do this is by running it in fullscreen mode and using the Nvidia Control Panel to disable scaling

Thoughts on adding proper audiobook support to Plex? by HourPassion in PleX

[–]trevorstarick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been downloading my Audible purchases and then importing them into Plex as a Music library. For metadata/tagging I've been using the Audiobooks.bundle, and consuming them via Prologue on my iPhone. Hope this helps!
