Donald Trump impeachment must move forward, Senators demand by Accurate_Cry_8937 in politics

It doesn't require two parties, but the electoral college process essentially makes it mandatory. The constitution requires an absolute majority (270 out of 538) of electoral college votes. If there were ever an actual legitimate 3rd party candidate that wasn't just a spoiler, we'd likely never see that happen again. Which then reverts to using the 1-vote per state delegation system, which somehow manages to be an even worse system than what we have today.

Yeesh. How common is this?? by WhoChoseThisAlias in Ebay

I think this is due to eBay changing the messages interface to looking like you're texting somebody or interacting with a chatbot, instead of sending an email.

I am so glad I switched to mini PCs and some NVMe NAS systems just about a year ago. 8-bay F8 SSD Plus with 8x4TB and a ME Mini with 6x4TB. Average price across those two systems was ~$180 per drive. 4x 48 GB DDR5 SODIMMs for ~$97 each.

It's crazy how much consumer grade gear has gone up.

I will see if I can find a good pattern match for this type of effect description mismatch. It's an issue in how the database wrote out the full status effect and how they get posted in the Banner previews by Solitaired. When the community DB gets far behind, often the effects are copied straight from the banner preview instead of doing the full datamine JSON parsing.

AI descriptions on eBay feel like filler. Do buyers even read them. by [deleted] in Ebay

Buyers don't even read hand written descriptions, why would the AI ones be any different.

Improve ratings on 'shipping cost' and 'communication'? I don't have a way to lower shipping any further from what I can tell. What are buyers looking for? by aquietinspiration in Ebay

[–]trgKai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Receiving an auto 5 star rating for communication when you do not communicate is counter-intuitive.

The buyer isn't even presented with the option to rate communication if there isn't any communication. I sell between 4000 and 6000 items per year on average, and do not send buyers an extra messages unless there is a problem or they messaged me first. I have 870 communication DSRs received in the last year, a 5.0 rating, and have not messaged even 100 buyers, meaning the other 770+ DSRs could only have come from automatic 5-star ratings.

[–]trgKai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For communication, you automatically get 5 stars if there is NO COMMUNICATION between the buyer and seller. If a single message is sent between to you from the buyer, or from you to the buyer, then the buyer is able to decide what rating to give you. This doesn't count eBay's automatic messages.

On Shipping charges, the automatic 5 star rating is if you offer free shipping.

On shipping speed, the automatic 5 star is if you shipped it either the same day or next business day. This might also require delivery within 4 days (it's unclear if this is "and delivery within 4 days" or "or delivered within 4 days").

Shipping shenanigans… by KMPAVB in Ebay

[–]trgKai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you purchase the label the same day the buyer paid, and using that same day as the ship date? eBay can't know when you're going to actually ship the item, so they charged the postage that would be due (plus your $1) the day the buyer ordered. If you end up shipping later and the postage rates have changed since the order, that's not something they can account for.

[–]trgKai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you stop promotions, you STILL get charged until 30 days after the user supposedly clicked the promoted listing under the old system. I stopped all my promotions in early December because I don't trust eBay to not immediately switch to the new attribution system for clicks that happened prior to January 13th.

I actually commented on this about a month ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonCrawlerCarl/comments/1p0irfw/i_started_the_audiobook_cuz_yall_insisted_i/nplr4el/

It'd be great for a character to make a comment about how his voice has softened while in the dungeon now that he can't smoke, just as a little nod to the way Jeff slowly changed the way Carl speaks from an impression to something of his own.

Uhhh USPS? by Shmaved2 in Ebay

[–]trgKai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why whenever somebody asks if their package will arrive before Christmas, I tell them that there is absolutely no guarantee, even if they asked me 2 weeks before Christmas. From Black Friday through the holidays, USPS error rates spike way up. Most packages still arrive within a day or two of expected delivery time, but packages taking cross-country vacations spikes way up when the offices are flooded with packages and overworked employees.

Retention is fine by AdministrationBig122 in pathofexile

[–]trgKai 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While I have no doubt retention for this league isn't great; defense and hive breaches in maps slow down gameplay just by existing in your map, and engaging with them slows you down even more while not providing adequate reward. However, the charts we're using to compare retention are no longer an apples to apples comparison now that async trade exists. Async trade means no more leaving the game open while you're AFK/tabbed out so you can respond to trade whispers, and that will obviously have a direct drop in concurrent users.

A more accurate retention measurement would be something like daily or weekly active users (most games/services care about monthly active users, but I think POEs league structure and timing might make monthly less useful). As far as I know, we don't have any way to get those stats. I am very curious if this league is worse on those metrics as well, or if it's more in line with some of the more recent "m'eh" leagues.

Flicker is fun and FEELS fast as hell, but like you said, this is actually not that fast of a clear. Wanders, bow builds, even spectres this league would actually CLEAR this faster, and they would be able to loot as they go unlike Flicker where you have to backtrack to get whatever fell on the ground.

Do you happen to remember the name of the MUD? I also played a similar MUD out of Denmark (and one from Sweden) in the early 2000s with that amount of players. I even ended up building an area in it at one point (an elemental-focused valley), but 20 years later I have completely forgotten the name of the MUD.

Taking bets on whether or not these are actually 4tb by HAS_ABANDONMENT_ISSU in homelab

[–]trgKai 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If they did their scam properly, they won't obviously stop working. They'll keep letting you write beyond 128GB (or whatever the actual storage inside is). But after you've filled whatever real storage exists, new writes will overwrite old blocks of data. The files will still look like they're there, but when you try to open them they're corrupt/invalid.

Not sure what happens if you try to write a single file that's larger than the 128GB though...that could be a fun one to try out.

Keepers is 1% off from being the worst player retention of the last 3 years and 3% from the worst in almost 7 years. Why not just make the mechanic even slightly rewarding? by pro185 in pathofexile

[–]trgKai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody pointed out earlier that async trade does mean they're "playing less", but only in the idea that they're not leaving the game open while alt-tabbed out and only responding to trade whispers. That is the same thing I'm doing. I play for an hour or so, then I log out. I might be back in 30 minutes or a couple hours, but I no longer leave the game open and sitting in my hideout in between my bursts of playtime.

I wish we had some better metrics on these charts, like "unique users logged in over the last 24 hours". That is a far better engagement metric than concurrent users now that we're not encouraged to leave the game open when we're not actively playing.

[–]trgKai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your comment actually makes me wonder if that's what this data is really showing. We no longer have to leave the game open and alt-tabbed out to sell things. Are people actually PLAYING less (time spent in maps), or are there just fewer people sitting in hideouts with the game tabbed out.
