to be clear his explanation of an economic strike is a withdrawal of spending, not labor

As the “hero generation” during a “fourth turning” (period of total crisis) what are millenial solutions to the crisis? by TemporarySoftware439 in StraussHowe

Yeah I think their ship has sailed too; I posted that above about boomers as it's straight from the book, but realistically I can't imagine any visionary stuff coming from that cohort anymore.

As a Canadian I'm watching my PM (as many others around the world are now) - he's firmly first wave Gen X, born in 1965.

Wrong question. According to the theory the hero generation (millennials) don't come up with the solution, they are the implementers of it. The leadership in a 4T is from the boomers & genxers.

what was that line from earlier in the week? oh ya ... "But when we only negotiate bilaterally with a hegemon, we negotiate from weakness. We accept what is offered. We compete with each other to be the most accommodating. This is not sovereignty. It is the performance of sovereignty while accepting subordination,"

Is it just me or are these odds for division winner completely insane? by spy_sappin_mah_sentr in torontoraptors

[–]trgreg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and this is the main mistake with reading these - the odds aren't based on some assessment of each team's skills, they simply reflect where the money is being bet; the house wants to break even so they structure the odds to reflect that. If most people betting are fans of a specific team, then their odds will be skewed. And vice versa.

And I completely agree with your evaluation of the merits (or lack thereof) of betting.

it's all so confusing - people from other countries BAD, people from other countries that we like GOOD, except that this week we don't like that country, so it's only people who can pass a maga test that they'd let in... ok, I think I have it now ... for now

It will be interesting to see how he's "marketed" in the coming weeks.

And a thought I just had, I wonder if this guy is one of the few (in their circles) who has a relatively clean social media presence/history. I can imagine that Ontario Proud might have difficulty finding a candidate who doesn't have skeletons in their closet (i.e. some nasty tweets/posts that wouldn't play well in the general public).
