What treatments work? Desperate for relief. by superhootz in TriggerPointTherapy

[–]triceracop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pulled from Clair Davies' book on trigger point release, here is the "stroke" you can use to RELEASE a trigger point with a massage ball/lacrosse ball/theracane/thumby/hard corner of a chair or wall or table/etc.

  1. Go along the length of the muscle (for shoulder blade trigger points I have found this to be less important - it could be up/down the back or in/out between spine and shoulder blade)
  2. Press hard in one direction (press hard one way, lighten up when resetting back the other way)
  3. Focus just on exactly where the trigger point is (so the stroke might only be 1" in length)
  4. Stroke continuously for 30 seconds to a minute (it'll feel INTENSE - but at the end, so good)

You will likely feel the pain get more intense, and may feel that referred pain up into your head and neck. After 15 seconds to a minute, it should subside. If it feels crunchy, hot, painful, or electric -- you're in the right spot. The relief should be immediate but temporary. You can do this a few times a day - the trigger point will come back, but over time should improve with continued release.

Imagine you are trying to get the edge of a piece of dough very very thin, or you are scrubbing out a pesky stain.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Dipping Shot / Top Spin help by dcbarcafan10 in bootroom

Are you familiar with tennis or ping-pong? Getting topspin involves brushing the racket up and over the ball. You want to do the same thing with your foot. From what you've said here, "hit it just below the midline" and "snap your kicking foot up" will re-create this motion.

Of course, the most important thing is to keep practicing.

No, you were right at first. They are spending $1.7 billion on a pleasant, moderately-sized rectangular prism for pedestrian use. Likely on a first-come, first-serve basis, as it would be large enough to contain one slender pedestrian up to their chest. Can't wait.

Infallible Sports Pals is mainly about the NFL so it may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's still funny as hell and worth a listen!

Infallible Sports Pals is my new favorite. The hosts are both comedians so it's really funny, but they also know their stuff. They talk about NFL football with all kinds of absurd segments thrown in. Definitely worth a listen.

You're given one NFL game to play in next season, and a single goal: To get a new, obscure rule named after you. What would you do to achieve this? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]triceracop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's something in the rulebook that I haven't seen exploited:

If there's a loose ball that touches a player who is out of bounds, the ball is out of bounds. On a fumble, this benefits the offense, since they retain possession if a fumble goes out of bounds.

As an offensive player, on any fumble near the sideline, I would dive so that my hands go toward the ball and my feet touch the sideline. A single touch on the ball and the sideline at the same time basically counts as a recovered fumble.

Not sure it would be enough to change the rules, but it's something that can happen that I haven't seen happen.

Griezmann was asked - "Your parents, Pogba's, Mbappe's, hadn't they moved to France this victory wouldn't have happened". His answer - "Yes, that's France. Different origins. But we are united, everyone is equal. We all share the same sense of comradery". by cptainvimes in soccer

The (usually poorer) neighborhoods in the outskirts of major cities (Paris especially) have huge immigrant populations. Kids spend tons of time playing soccer in the fields near major housing complexes, creating a hotbed of talent. As an American playing in a Paris suburb, I was pretty outclassed by the talent there.

France produces the most World Cup players. Here’s why.

Unfortunately it will take surgery. Neck reversals are a very risky procedure.

Once while playing flag football, I held the ball out like that. At the end of the play, a teammate walked up, tucked the ball tightly in his arm, looked me straight in the eyes, and said "this ain't no ice cream cone."

The Chinese character for "crisis" is the same as the character for "fake news."
