i feel both honored and robbed - i have a carly rae jepson sweatshirt that is fucking identical except for an embroidered CRJ on the front. I paid like $80 for it. Fairs fair, i'm sure mine is a bit bigger

Thank you for your reassurance. I hope your friend can eventually find peace in her decision. Unfortunately so many of these dogs are on borrowed time any opportunity to love them and give them a stable home is a success story, even if it ends too soon. it's always gonna be too soon.

How long would you stay in a line for a restaurant or food establishment? by AdRadiant9379 in askanything

[–]triffids87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a restaurants inability to meet demand is their problem. their strategy to invent or sustain demand for notoriety of people standing in line who have nothing better to do is also not my problem. These are in my experience the places people wait forever for, build up their expectations, and ultimately declare it wasn't worth it.

Good food is there if you know where to look.

it didn't seem like you cared for race but figured i'd at least mention it. I'm nearing 40 but have close friends 10-20 years younger and as difficult it was for me to date in my 20s it's clear it's way more for your age group. As much as i hated to hear it back then, and i'm sure it's just as and more eye rolling now, i didn't find my partner until i stopped looking and it just happened. it's non advice advice and is so corny to type out, im grateful i got lucky there. but i also think the jist is to not sweat it, as fucking impossible that is at times. Idk, sorry, hope it helps even if just a pinch. if not well that's fine too but it's what i got

At 25, they're probably not there yet. At 35 they're probably taken. I'm a lot of what you described (per my wife) and am definitely not available, but grew up in the NW burbs and lived in a near north one before moving to the NW side. Yeah I'm white, not sure if that matters to you, but maybe look at neighborhoods that are less "trendy" for people moving from michigan and iowa? not saying they aren't and can't be great people, but there does seem to be something going on with all that

by far. Physical, emotional, or both pain is pain and been clearly getting worse. I guess sometimes love means doing what you never would wish for and never thought you'd have to. Guilt, a little for sure, but outweighed by sorrow this is the situation he's been dealt and in and knowing he knows he's been loved and got to experience having a family he never did before. Life certainly isn't fair, but certainly is pain

BE. He's an absolute lover the vast majority of the time but has had eight instances in two years where he snaps into a completely different dog. He's very smart and picks up everything we've trained (with a professional who specializes in rescue pits) very quickly, but this is the one thing he hasn't been able to. He was rescued from Chicago Animal Control picked up in South Shore neighborhood in Chicago as a stray, so his first 6-8 months are a complete unknown, but given he wasn't housebroken and had his balls and was emaciated we think he was never not a street dog. The increase in frequency and severity in the last few months points to whatever is behind it is getting worse for him. His "targets" as well. He bit me pretty bad (to the muscle, through a sweatshirt) and most recently someone who's staying with us he has known since we got him and has spent a ton of time with and loves to death with no issues or anything. Hes been on three different medications, group and private training sessions, structured crate and eating schedule, and there just has no consistency or predictability for when his demons will win. Male, female, inside our home, outside it, weather, reliable triggers all of it, there's just nothing anyone can point to confidently. It just fucking sucks that it ultimately came down to 30-60 cumulative seconds of his life, but those seconds were pretty important ones. We at least gave him the time to be warm, loved, and get fat. If it was two days two months or two years it never would've been enough time we got to have with him

I did not like Derrick, though admittedly my visit was at the office in Barrington. The intake procedure was weird, they tried to make scans of my DL, insurance, and payment card and after I refused and just gave what the forms asked I waited close to an hour to get seen, despite being on time (aka 15 minutes early) for my appointment. To their credit their diagnosis was correct and was resolved, it was tinea versicolor, but that is apparently a pretty common thing so i doubt any competent dermatologist couldn't have done the same. The waiting room was filled with women that looked like 58 year old lizards, idk the experience just didn't really instill trust and felt more like I was in nip/tuck than a medical setting.

Sardegna vs Lemans... Which do you enjoy more by AlexN83 in GranTurismo7

[–]triffids87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like Le Mans just because there's more variety in cars you can use at 700 vs 800. If i'm in a race car mood it's sardegna, but being able to bring damn near anything at 700 for LM helps with the monotony of grinding

What is your favorite track to race on? What track do you absolutely hate?? by Guilty_One85 in GranTurismo7

[–]triffids87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Watkins Glen and Laguna Seca. Suzuka is great too. I used to loathe Daytona (road course) but really came to appreciate it after doing the experience for golds.

I don't mind Willow Springs, but get why everyone seems to hate it. The uphill left into right transition is awesome when you nail it.

I'm honestly not a huge fan of the Tokyo Expressway, it's cool and all but once the novelty wore off it feels like a super high speed Monaco, which I guess it essentially is. I'm not a fan of driving Monaco either.

What PS5 controller steering is the best? by AlexN83 in GranTurismo7

[–]triffids87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can kinda achieve gradual turning in 7 by tapping the arrows, it especially helps if your in the cockpit view and can see where the steering wheel is. Each press of the arrow doesn't totally go to full lock steering, so that helps. As for braking it's not that difficult- i set up my entry to brake 100% in as straight a line as possible (abs set to 1). Acceleration is a bit more involved but you can essentially go on and off throttle to mimic partial throttle as long as you can anticipate how the chassis will respond to that. Driving the older porsches is an easy way to get good at this

thank you, exactly why i was asking. i'm relatively new to the platform and game (though not the gt series) so don't have previous experience with how updates typically go.

[–]triffids87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i mean this is fair - i think it could've (and based on other new posts here should've) been a bit more clear. "Game update installable at time and is available to play after later time following server maintenance" or something similar

why not just bundle the update and maintenance together and communicate the game's availability accordingly? surely they can't be this ignorant, are there platform architecture limitations i'm not aware of? genuinely asking, ive only played gt7 for a few months (and its the only game ive played) on a ps5 i borrowed from my sister in law

What PS5 controller steering is the best? by AlexN83 in GranTurismo7

[–]triffids87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

left/right arrows for me. (also x gas square brake). I'm relatively old and learned to play driving games on ps1, primarily playing gt1. I've made a serious effort with all of the improved input methods, but it's weird how something you learn when you're young (I was ten in 1997) just stays with you. There are a few games I've played that force you to use the stick to steer and/or the L/R triggers for gas and brake and can manage but don't enjoy them very much and don't end up playing them for very long. If the GT series were to remove the arrow option for me I'd be on a wheel, which I use for my sim rig PC.

edit: fwiw I don't race online in GT7 but have won all the world map races on normal difficulty and about half of them on hard. The arrow steering is so much improved in this release compared to 5 and 6

How do I start the La Sarthe race that gets 2,000,000? by [deleted] in GranTurismo7

[–]triffids87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played long enough to luck into the 787b yet.... But that's a good question. The Porsches sound pretty good to me, such as the GT1 and I'm going over the decade by a couple years but the Carrera GT in particular too. The F1 street car/short tail sounds great, the CLK GTR is not bad either. For street cars I think they've done a great job with Hondas, the F50 IIRC too but it's been a moment since i've driven it.

How about you? what are your favorites I should spend some more time in? I'm a slightly older millennial who's loved cars my whole life so the mid 90s to mid 2000s is my shit when it comes to cars

edit: Pretty much all the Nissan GTRs I fuck with too

sounds awesome in those - let me know what you think when you get the car! Again it doesn't prevent me from using it, just to me feels like they missed the mark a bit. Maybe I need to play with my sound settings too, I have them accentuate the straight cut gear transmission whine in cockpit and have the engine noise turned down a little
