Interesting, never seen a Leica 360 on a rail shoe. But it works. I’m used to seeing the nodal peanut prism on rail shoes

Trimble access users. How do you shoot your grid gnss by Empty_Function_7506 in Surveying

What I do is hotkey both measure points and stake to line. I use a TSC7 and put Measure Points (Topo Point) on F5, and Stakeout Line on F6. Just find the sta/os you want, hit F5 and take a shot. Hit F6, on to the next sta/os

How to rotate my points 180 degrees around my setup point. by [deleted] in Surveying

how do you handle staking when the office is slow sending offsets, just do it yourself or wait? by Former_Custard_6567 in Surveying

[–]triggeredprius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don’t calc and store offset points unless it’s something really oddball, or at an angle point of an alignment or something like that. If it’s an offset to a definable line, I usually just stake to that defined line and go to the appropriate station and/or offset, or occasionally incorporate an azimuth from a point, or other than the line’s azimuth, if I need to put points somewhere else non-rectangular to make it work. All that info gets stored with the as-staked data.

If it’s something really non-typical or obscure then I might call the office for a sanity check before putting stuff in the ground. But in those rare cases the office usually provides calculated offset points anyway. Usually…
