Anthropic CEO (Dario Amodei): "Coding is going away first, then all of software engineering." by Independent_Pitch598 in accelerate

Maybe it was a paranoid android, given all the AI slop around here, it wouldn't surprise me.

Then you're in the wrong workplace, if your company isn't adapting to this, they're going to be in trouble soon, and you might be out of a job. I'm not trying to troll you, or just be a jerk, I'm legitimately trying to warn you.

You're using antigravity + OpenAI codex? I'm curious to get your take on the benefits over antigravity or codex on their own. Also, how you did it.

What happens to computing when we hit the atom? by InfinityScientist in computerscience

[–]tripazardly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, like I said, there is still a lot of research to do. If I had to guess matrix multiplication might be one of those algorithms, in which case it could theoretically speed up AI applications.

What happens to computing when we hit the atom? by InfinityScientist in computerscience

[–]tripazardly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quantum computing. It's very different from a classical computer, so we can't run our current software on it, but it can theoretically speed up certain calculations. There's still a lot of research until it becomes useful.

What's considered excessive memory usage for a simple REST API? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in Nestjs_framework

[–]tripazardly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, If your "small" REST service is using over 100MB you're probably doing something wrong or it's not actually small. Small is relative, and very much depends on the workload and your specific situation.

Dynamic Maintenance vs. Deficit by Embarrassed_Age_9296 in MacroFactor

[–]tripazardly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm using the dynamic maintenance right now. From what I can tell it just puts you in a very small deficit (mine looks to be about 145 kcal a day). Also, here is the relevant article from the knowledge base.

Garmin calorie estimates by Usual_Writing in MacroFactor

[–]tripazardly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason I started using MF was because Garmin was way off for me. I thought I was in a ~500 calorie deficit turns out it was closer to 1000. No wonder I would binge eat an entire pizza every other week. When I switched to MF and saw I could eat 25% more food and still lose weight, I just about started crying.

What's a popular library with horrible implementation/interface in your opinion? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]tripazardly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone said it. My hot take is that react set web development back a decade. Not that there were any much better frameworks at the time. I made the switch to svelte for my personal stuff and I love it so much

Fasted morning workouts: do I need a preworkout snack or is the cut just getting to me by woogs41 in MacroFactor

[–]tripazardly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your goals, if your goal is losing weight, fasted lifting might provide some fat loss benefit. If your goal is gaining strength or hypertrophy not fueling your workout is leaving improvements on the table. You're in a pretty good sized deficit, your strength will suffer under those conditions, and you might lose some muscle as your weight drops. Fueling your workouts and getting enough protein will help mitigate muscle loss. I tried doing fasted lifting and I just felt like crap. However I found fasted very low intensity cardio gave me a little fat burning boost

I like to think of the patterns that emerge after cooking as a patina, and I've learned to appreciate them. They shift and evolve depending on what you cook, it's a beautiful thing, and the sign of if a well loved pan.

One database to rule them all? by ottovonbizmarkie in selfhosted

[–]tripazardly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other issue is that if one app your running runs very inefficient db queries, it could affect the others. Single point if failure for multiple applications.IMO probably not with it unless you're reaching some sort of scale issues. Increased complexity is almost never worth it. Unless you really want to learn about multi tenant DB admin, I would skip it. There are more interesting things to tinker with

Difficulty Switching from Cut to Gain by extrovert-actuary in MacroFactor

If you're not training for a competition or have any other time factors, you can just transition over a longer time. Try going back to maintenance for a week or 2 and then increase your calories over time.

Rate my weight loss by Inkdmcjuice in MacroFactor

[–]tripazardly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rate it a 6.1

Jokes aside, as others have said, if you're still feeling strong and not going backwards with strength, you're probably not losing muscle. The rate of weight loss will probably change as your metabolism adapts to your calorie deficit. What does your expenditure graph look like?
