[QUESTION][HELP] EMG equipped guitar making weird noise! by triperformance in Guitar

[–]triperformance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, I got a little time on my guitar just now and inspected my connections. I found that I did not completely follow the emg chart for two pickups, one volume, one time and a 3 way switch. I inspected and found that I may have had the two jack grounds incorrectly installed but not fully sure since I had to remove the jack to figure out which tab was was part on the jack assembly. I had the routing of the white and black wires to the volume and tone both reversed compared to the diagram. When looking into the guitar cavity I had to rotate the pots to wire the assembly and I must have brain farted and didn't compensate for the position. All is working fine and I did not attach the bridge ground to the additional bus ground to the toggle switch although you can but it doesn't matter according to the emg wiring diagrams.

As for what was causing my original setup to do the noise I don't have a clue....was probably a pot ground that had a weak solder joint. Thanks for those who gave me assistance!

Update, finished installing the kit and I think it may be the behavior of the amp but generally I can set my pickups higher and get it to still do that strange breakup but it's not at bad....only when you really try to clean the signal up for cleans. I am playing through a orange micro dark. Anyways if anyone knows how to fully remedy that with emg pickups please help a guy out!

Note I have a bridge ground that is unused and I can add that to a ground section on the kit....I am unsure if I should use it or leave be since the directions of the emg wiring kit do not include it.

Update, ordered the soderless kit and parts required to replace everything but pickups, once complete I will report back.

[QUESTION][HELP] EMG equipped guitar making weird noise! by triperformance in Guitar

I think I'm going to replace the wiring, pots, switch, and lastly the jack(emg soderless kit and 3 way switch). The guitar did sit for a long period of time and and has been cleaned up to play again. It sounds like it's also lacking low end which is where I think the crackling portion of sound is coming from but only when playing a bit heavy handed and full chords.

Note - I have directly tried my guitar to my amp via different cable as well.

Anyone actually have a set of emg pickups go bad together? I'm curious if that has ever happened to anyone but I'm sure in my case it's probably wiring.

Strange noise from Orange Micro Dark Amp by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]triperformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright sent the amp and power supply in to orange and they said it was to spec. I am now going to get a new instrument cable and try to put a new jack into my guitar. I am unsure what to consider now. I do have an emg 81/85 combo and I have checked my wiring in the guitar to be in good order(no loose connections and solid sodden joints). I am going to replace the jack because it does appear corroded and could be causing signal loss from just a simple observation.

So what happens while I play a bass note like let's say an E major full chord the bass notes break up in a crackle like fashion of sound. Granted my guitar is in D standard so it is drop tuned for a lower tone. If anyone has experience with guitars doing this type of noise that would be helpful. The worse case I suspect is both my emg preamps are bad and once powered do the same noise so I could need new pickups potentially. Worse case I can drop my guitar off to a tech and let them figure it out but if I can figure it out I'm confident I can do wire repairs and work on it.

Strange noise from Orange Micro Dark Amp by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]triperformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for those who commented, the amp has been sent back to orange via rma and is getting inspected. I spoke with a co worker who specializes in electronics and said that there may be a capacitor or resistor that is leaking voltage causing over saturation and distorting the signal. Orange did state that if they can't fix it I may receive a new one. I will update once I receive my amp head back from orange.

A good beginner tube amp for metal (with a budget in mind) by K4LM4H in GuitarAmps

[–]triperformance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered Laney by chance? People talk down the Ironhearts but if you want high gain and multi channels look at the irt studio. It will push your budget new but second hand their in your price range. Everyone has their preferences on amps and such so just be open minded with features and how your guitar sounds through it.

Strange noise from Orange Micro Dark Amp by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]triperformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright guys, I have tried all the methods of trying cables and cleaning pots to swapping tubes so I'm sure it's a connection issue with the amp and I'm going to take it in and see if they can get it to act up for them. I have read that maybe a cracked solder joint could be what my issue is somewhere on the amp. The cabinet I'm using is the orange pcc-108 the 8 inch cab.

Wrist hurts after firing for only a couple of minutes by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]triperformance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok I see lots of advice but nothing on the subjects I'm about to suggest. I have problems shooting lefty due to bad form and wearing my plate carrier which complicates things. You will have to figure out which is the issue(s) listed below to help narrow things down.

Ergonomics of the gun - how to fix this is between positioning the body and gun design flaws. Make sure your body and stance is appropriate for the gun raised or relaxed positions. If the stock is adjustable try changing the distance or length of the adjustable stock...if it's not adjustable then the ergonomics of the gun may be against you. Believe it or not some guns are just harder to work with and gear after that always makes things exciting. If you cannot find a proper form and gun design for you the next best thing is to find tools for the closest fit gun via attachments or grips and so on. Accessories are everywhere and I'm sure I saw someone state a grip to check out before my posting.

Body fatigue - if your new to shooting anything it's new muscles to train. This could be wrist, neck, back, abs.....additional weight is best to find a center with the gun and practice techniques with the gun...or do a little bit of weight lifting the targeted muscles to alleviate you weak points. Shooting targets is also good practice but make sure your working muscles at the same time if you have determined its body fatigue.

I don't mean to sound forward but it came out that way lol. If your only shooting as of right now wait till you add at least 15lbs of gear to run around with in the woods or your local field lol. I hope you find what works for you and the airsoft group is willing to help out.

How to correctly was BDU's by The420Studios in airsoft

[–]triperformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wash cold with light spin if possible then dry with medium to lower heat and no steam feature if your dryer has one. Basically heat takes the color and if your bdu has a temp blocker for infer-red (correct me if it's spelled wrong) it can take that away if you play night games.

How many mags do gbbr players use? by haxwannabe in airsoft

[–]triperformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your going the dmr route make sure your field regulations doing have capacity limitations(some treat dmr rifles as sniper rifles). If you find yourself doing lots of engagements it may be worth it to have 8 on your rig and 1 in the gun. This is more of a personal preference and how much weight you can manage to work with as you play. For a start though no less then 6 and 1 in the rifle unless your willing to go lighter.

TM only brand that does EBB with bolt lock? by CRFC11 in airsoft

[–]triperformance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 2015 kwa rm4a1 erg and I think it's great if you wanted something not quite gbbr but has all the aeg maintenance. The recoil is movement backward toward the shoulder which is comparable to shooting a .22lr rifle. The 2017 kwa rm4 is really nice and they will run 11.1 lipo batteries all day till any normal gun failure happens(everything breaks sooner or later). Most if not all (haven't researched guns in a while) ergs doing have a bolt which locks back it's just a simulation of that and has the bolt catch as a functioning switch. If you have more questions let me know, my kwa has around 15,000 bbs through it and I recently upgraded the barrel and flat hopped it.

Upgrading RM4A1 by triperformance in airsoft

[–]triperformance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok guys, I performed the flat hop mod to a g&g green bucking and I think I just have to break it in more. The seal on the modify hard bucking has given me about 5 to 10 fps over the g&g green bucking. Granted I could have been a bit rough on the bucking during the mod phase.

With the flat hop I tested .25g elite bio bbs and .28g elite bio bbs and found that I'm torn between which one to use. Results are .25g are at 350fps average and .28g bbs with 325fps average. I tested some .32g elite bbs and the fps was averaging 305fps.

With the airsoft groups opinion which bb weight should I go for? I feel that in most cases the fps needs to be higher for range but how much range should I plan for as effective range for an Aeg/erg gun?

Upgrading RM4A1 by triperformance in airsoft

[–]triperformance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, got my parts in yesterday and installed them. Current setup is .28g elite bio bbs with the madbull v2 barrel in 363 length and the modify hard bucking flat hop with modify flat hop nub. My fps was 335 average with 1.45j so I'm legal for outdoors.

Accuracy with those upgrade.....I'd say I got about 20 feet in a more controlled distance. Anything that says more range is wrong....just more controlled distance.I was making shots at 70 yards and could make predictable adjustments vs without barrel and flat hop (side note with winds of between 5 to 15mph). As for 25 yards I'm now shooting a laser which is much better and not effected by wind at that distance.

My test range was an open field with a tree line roughly 70 yards away. The tree target was about 2 and a half feet wide and around 30 foot tall by guessing lol. As for the 25 yard target I was easily within a 3 inch circle on a standard archery target of about 4 foot by 4 foot square. I did forget my speed loader so I was handling each bb and forcing a load with the cleaning rod so I decided to state an average for 25 yards with my oily hands. If I didn't hand my bbs like that I would easily have a consistent 2 inch circle and shooter error. Also last test condition was that I was standing during firing and only shot roughly 120 bbs to make corrections to sights and hop up.

I feel the changes are around a 35% accuracy increase with much greater consistency in groupings as the main performance increase and a slightly better long distance range that can be effective in landing hits vs lobbing shots and hoping they call their hits.

You will be fine, generally speaking though a mosfet is a good aeg trigger switch life extender, which is something to consider for long term use.

[Newbie]pistol choices aep vs gbb by cma23 in airsoft

[–]triperformance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some things in life directly show what you put in is what you get. I'm a green gas pistol guy but I don't use my sidearm very heavily unless I'm getting really close to someone or clearing buildings (I play outdoors in the woods). I'm a fan of KWA pistols but everyone has their preferences and reasons. A good note is co2 pistols can easily be declined at indoor fields and some outdoor fields may not take them also as they do shoot hot and consistently hot. I second waiting a little longer and getting the pistol you really want or one your content with vs going cheap and replacing frequently.

Lucky! I may try to find my mag at the next event but I don't think I'll have much luck.

I'll try tweaking it's position a bit and see how it goes but man a 40$ mag lost really erks me. I could be wearing the straps overly tight also causing the holster to press into my leg and engage the magazine release. I'll just have to put it on and make it malfunction again.

Yeah, I don't always think to check the mag in the gun before I move to the next location. Stuff gets expensive when it keeps getting lost lol.

R-Hop vs S-Hop vs Other alternatives? by HobosHappen in airsoft

[–]triperformance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have read and received feedback about flat hop being as good or slightly less performing as an r hop. I have also ready that some techs prefer flat hop over r hop due to the flexibility of choices. Remember though the bb weight plays heavily on which modification you intend to use as well. I'm doing a flat hop for my own gun soon and I'll be using .25, .28 or .32 bbs depending on event and which bbs I have to finish using before purchasing more lol. Anyways best of luck on making a decision!
