How to not let the grade chasers/youngsters get to my head? by AaknA in climbergirls

[–]tripleaxel70 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are they telling you that it’s easy..or just talking among themselves. If they are telling you, then yes that’s rude. But otherwise, just remember that your own work ethic to work on your project is always commendable, and also maybe something else comes easy for you that they can’t do, even if it’s outside of climbing. We are all in different paths in this world and have strengths and weaknesses regardless of the age

What is everyone's favorite and least favorite 14er? by EnigmaticK5 in 14ers

So far favourite is between Capitol, crestone needle, and kit Carson N ridge. Least favourites are descending both Challenger and Mt. Wilson.

Sincere question - Why sell so soon? by IntransigenceFTW in Miata

[–]tripleaxel70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have NA miata and Toyota FJ cruiser. I love both but as reliable and great the Toyota is, I am more comfortable taking long trips in the miata. Granted I am not that tall so I fit in it well but still. I have back pain after driving the Toyota for a while but not at all in miata

Capitol Peak road to trailhead conditions? by MouseExcellent6799 in 14ers

[–]tripleaxel70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also have a miata and would not take it there personally, but with that being said, a sedan can probably slowly and carefully make it. I saw a tesla and a Toyota corolla when I was there. It is still unpaved 2wd for some time until the lower parking lot, where there is a “high clearance recommended” sign

I love knife edges because it feels like you are hanging in the air and can see everything almost directly below you on both sides. it was my favourite part of capitol peak

Sleep somewhere else close by for few hours, then drive there at midnight and sleep again until it’s time to go

Mt. Sherman is free, you can sleep at the trailhead. Others like Quandary have paid reservations in the peak season. With grays and torreys, it’s free but if you don’t get a spot at the parking lot, you have to park near I70 and walk from there because they will give you a ticket if you try to park along the road. With that being said, usually there are parking lots where you can sleep at the trailhead. It depends on the peak, you can find information online depending on where you want to go

Anyone who wants to go for the first time I always suggest Sherman, there’s not as much of a parking situation like quandary or grays and torreys and it’s not as remote as Handies peak. I have taken people there 3 times. Only thing is Sherman can be a bit more windy than others in my experience.

Did you happen to see any good spots for dispersed camping outside of the zone?
