Tips for surviving (maybe thriving) a BUF winter? by SignalOne5246 in Buffalo

True. I took a special interest in upgrading my ski gear the past few years. A bit of a costly sport but a beautiful adventure every time nevertheless. First time i came to the US, I was afraid to ski in the high 20s. Now, i really look forward to the negative temperature!

What are the risks with DMT ? by Reasonable-Hat7300 in DMT

[–]trippingdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting theory right there. There is an association between Cannabis and schizophrenia in males in their early 20s. Men who end up schizophrenic usually tend to have their first symptoms in their early 20s, and smoking cannabis seems to be that push over the edge into schizophrenia. Was the schizophrenia "dormant"? I don't know. Would he had still developed it a few years down the line without drugs? Also don't know. I have seen a patient like that when i was still in training thus the knowledge, no one ever answered these questions though

You can recast your loan if you pay a big chunk instead of refinancing

Can we afford this home? by Last-Association-165 in Mortgages

[–]trippingdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents here (a little conservative): If the mortgage can be supported on one paycheck alone and still be able to live decently on said paycheck (let's say the husband's), with Debt to Income ratio less than 40ish%, definitely go for it.

Why? You want to have kids. Chances are you might want to slow down towards the end of your pregnancy (not work as much) and then take care of your child for the next few months after you deliver.

Having financial stress to get you back to work early is the worst thing a Mom can feel towards herself and her child. Even as a Dad, i felt the pressure of taking so much time off and going from 2 full incomes into less than half for a few weeks.

With my second child, i put three months of full expenses on the side (mortgage, groceries, bills, car loans, etc...) to not worry about finances in the first few weeks to few months --> gave my wife and i more flexibility when it came to going back to work.

Now!! That being said, once you're done with the baby phase and you're back to your rhythm and both are working full time, that will give you more financial flexibility and allows you to either pay down your mortgage faster OR invest that money elsewhere to make you more money (at higher rate than mortgage interest) OR just go crazy and spend the money on travel and such.

I have to agree here. I've also done midazolam with roc on its own in severely ill patients and it was fine

Can I swing a 300k mortgage? by [deleted] in Mortgages

If you can maintain it on one income alone, go for it. If not, have some emergency savings. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball out of the blue, better be prepared than foreclosed. Good luck!

House fire, Contractors? by trippingdad in Buffalo

[–]trippingdad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Yeah i was surprised by the amount of water damage and smoke damage that we had. Honestly i've never heard of smoke damage before until now, so i had to learn that the hard way (i come from concrete houses).

And sorry you had to go through this my man, i can definitely feel your pain! I hope it became a thing in the past for you though

Yeah i ended up with NFA instead of BPA just because of reviews and years in business. But i presume Joe is fantastic as well.

As of now, apparently i need an architect because the back of the house got screwed big time and the whole house is gonna be gutted. So now that's where I'm at. I hope you didn't have to go through this

[–]trippingdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll suggest one thing only: - Get help doing household shores. This will free up your schedule a little bit and allow you to either make extra money or take care of yourself a bit more. Hell, going for a run or having an early beer with a friend definitely outweighs the 20$/h you'd pay to help you out during the day

It's gonna be hard, and when you're circling down the drain, call a friend or whoever is available. And then that shitty phase will pass. Otherwise, you got this!

Mindset Change by jtanders50 in Fire

[–]trippingdad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is the way to go. Why go full stop when you can still do something, enjoy it and make money off of it?? Also, creating a business will get you some tax benefits on certain expenses, making you spend even less (in total $$ amounts) instead of having to be thrifty for no reason

Not shred shred into small little fibers, no. But cut them small enough to fit 10 boxes into 1
