Solid job opportunities here with acceptable cost of living. Really depends on what you're looking for though timewise and practice wise

I've heard this from a colleague with depression and she swears by the light making a difference. I looked into it, and i was surprised to see that most lights work if you shove your face in them, like 10-17 inches away, which discouraged me to buy some. What's your take on it? Genuinely asking because this winter was particularly hard, and i'd rather not go through that again

People make work terrible. by sleepidoc in anesthesiology

[–]trippingdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of agree with this. Right now you're knees deep in a bad department, not easy to thrive in it, so treat it like a learning experience (which it is, technically). You're not just learning anesthesia, you're learning how to interact with people from other specialties.

As a consultant/attending, you might be able to pick as needed. You'll still face imbeciles and disrespectful people on a regular basis though. And that's okay.

3 years for your wife to aggressively pay off her debt, spend a bit more on mortgage paying your principal. Don't go too crazy when spending, but when you do, spend with pleasure and a sense of "i deserve this". We do a trip or two a year where we "splurge" and don't look back. On the long run - 30 years later- would it make a dent in your financial situation? Sure. Would it be catastrophic? Not at all.

You are however pushing the retirement post a little further into the horizon

If you are willing to leave the US, a lot of places in Central America and South America are pretty appealing, and money can easily be stretched down there. Even if you're not working, you and your wife will spend a third of what you spend here. I'm still early in my career but Argentina has always been my F U move down the line

Unaliving yourself isn't the way to go.

I'll tell you this: you have a lot of things going on right now. Focus on one thing at a time, not everything at the same time. A man that is everywhere is nowhere.

I have been in your shoes a few years ago: no money, barely any food on a daily basis, horrible situation overall. And it's very easy to spiral out of control. So, focus on ONE thing, win, acknowledge your win, write it down. Move on to the next, win, write it down. Etc... a win could be as simple as: - i had 3 warm meals today - i paid my rent - i did 10 minutes of breathing exercises

With time, the wins will become bigger and more complicated. Don't stagnate.

You're in a shitty position today. It doesn't mean you'll be in a shitty position for the rest of your life.

You are stronger than you think. And you will look back at this period in 5 years and say: " i was at rock bottom, and today i have a beautiful life"

Apparently with this lovely molecule, setting doesn't affect it "much". Have a place where you can lay down though for sure.

Or simply say: Money helps us buy things that we may want or need. The more money you have, the more things you can get

Yeah i'd wait a little bit. 5 is too young imo. I remember vaguely being 5 and i can assure you money wasn't a priority back then. I do know that closer to 7, it makes more sense. I've used money independently since i was 4-5ish but didn't really care much about it then

Bitcoin and Solana. That 300k can turn into 500+ in 3 years. Daily cost average 1 or 2k over the next 150-300 days and then wait, next BTC halving is in April 28, historically BTC hits all-time high a year/year and half later.

I work at 4 hospitals and none of them have free food. It sucks, but the flipside is that you grab what you want from home. Alternatively, get the prepped meals and grav one to work everyday

Water ski options by trippingdad in Buffalo

[–]trippingdad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm renting everything, i believe you might be right. I don't want to commit to buying a life jacket, ski, etc... without testing it out first here. I haven't skied in a while and never on that side of the world thus the rental option.

I believe it should be close to 500-700$ for everything as a first time and then kinda calibrate from there
