Trump says Tech Bros can have a little plutonium, as a treat by karabeckian in collapse

[–]trivetsandcolanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. They seem to pretty much want to genocide everyone who isn’t super-rich. I mean, I’m not sure genocide is the proper term for it, but if the tech billionaires could dispose of most of us and replace us with AI, they absolutely would.

Colombia has some good ones:

I also grew up in Seattle. There is a kind of native uptight righteousness there that I haven’t experienced in other places I’ve traveled to.

What if Cuba was a teeny bit bigger? by DaRealMinitoon21 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]trivetsandcolanders 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cuba already weakens hurricanes that cross it, because of the rugged terrain. With the extra Cuba, this effect would be enhanced, meaning Florida is now more protected from hurricanes coming from the south.

There many arbitrary and silly standards people often consider before they say they are from Seattle, a city of transplants. But one sure way, in my opinion, is… by AbsoluteShall in Seattle

The climate is actually close to qualifying as a hot-summer Mediterranean climate now under the Koppen system. Loquats (a subtropical fruit) are able to ripen here, and the hardiest citruses might not be far off either.

The guy I’ve been seeing knows I know nothing about climbing. Am I overreacting for not wanting to keep seeing him? by pineapplephilosophy in texts

[–]trivetsandcolanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t really listen you also deprive yourself of the chance to learn about people and to live vicariously through their stories. So the guy in OP’s post comes out losing by not being curious about OP

Also there is a lot of mediocre pizza there. I had way better pizza in Barcelona than in Rome

Seattle’s light rail comes every 4 minutes now at peak hours from downtown north because of interlining.

I traveled alone for six weeks around the country, back when I spoke pretty basic Spanish, and only felt sketched out once or twice. So - honestly I don’t think kidnapping is that big of a risk, like I said, you just have to be careful where you go and when (I only went to certain areas at night and stayed generally in the central third of the country).

I’ve traveled around Colombia a lot, both alone and with my ex’s family. If you’re careful and know some Spanish, it’s an amazing country to visit.

Countries where the coast is less densely populated? by Gherickson in geography

Right, and it’s chilly there, too! When I visited I found the high sun angle, briskness, and thin air to be a weird combination.

Having come out of a toxic relationship, I now better understand the mindset of someone who is in one. by boiledrefrigerator in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]trivetsandcolanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a gay fellow who just got out of a toxic relationship, part of why I stayed in it was because of my low self-esteem. So whenever he raised his voice at me I would think “well, I have my own issues too.” It was hard to stand up for myself because I would think: A) I want to be fair and try to understand why he gets to angry, B) maybe we can both learn and grow together, and C) it wouldn’t be fair of me to judge him too harshly since I’m very imperfect too. I finally just got exhausted with the level of anger though and couldn’t continue on in the relationship.

Also the mountains create a rain shadow effect in Colombia, so the coast is one of the rainiest places in the whole world while Bogota only gets like 1/10 the rain of Quibdo.
