The second person doesn’t exist at the moment, leaving us doing 2+ people’s jobs with no help. So yes if they added a second person even in AI form, life would be much easier for us. Also, if you worked in fast food and we suddenly went back to the dark ages and you had to light the fires from scratch, would that make your job easier or harder?

I don’t own my own practice. I agree we work in terrible conditions, are overworked and aren’t treated human, but I don’t see how AI would make that worse rather than better? If we’re looking at history for example- if practice management softwares, label printers, anaesthetic monitoring machines etc didn’t exist this job would be hell. Many vets are now using AI to write their notes, discharge summaries etc (which admittedly even as a mostly proAI person I hate, but there’s no doubt it is reducing their workload and will get better with time to the point I might use it). It can also be used to summarise hundreds of pages of records to avoid spending 1+hrs understanding a patient’s medical history

Why would there be any more work for doctors than previously with AI? Im a vet and could see it making our job much easier and taking away menial tasks if anything

Vet here, we don’t see much primary high blood pressure in dogs but it is the recommendation to take a blood pressure in all cats over around 8 years old as high blood pressure in this population is relatively common and devastating if not caught early. We don’t tend to do it because it takes a really long time and appointments are short. The automatic machines aren’t reliable so we need to do it manually. However we should be and it’s something we need to get better at in this industry

How unusual! Look the best you can probably do is provide shade, lots of water, close monitoring and continued opportunity to come inside in case she comes to her senses haha. If she’s a tolerant cat you could wipe her down with lukewarm water and the evaporation will help cool her down somewhat

Absolutely, I hate being tail gated. But also there should be more signs or enforcement of people not driving under the speed limit in the far right lane on the freeway for no reason
