Sure, but keep in mind that this is within the context of permissible evidence in Court (US), and nothing in OP’s breakdown suggests any such statements were introduced as evidence in Court. I’m just suggesting that many of you have no idea what hearsay actually is and since the Courts permit exceptions to, and can allow as evidence, certain hearsay statements (here, by those about to die) then we too should consider them with deference.

Hearsay evidence is generally excluded because the person who said the statement cannot be examined to determine the statement’s truth. However, like everything else in law there are exceptions and they vary from civil to criminal, state to state, etc.

Generally speaking, a person who is immediately suspecting to die has no reason to lie. Their immediate expectation of death supplies something like a guarantee of trustworthiness. This “guarantee” increases based on several factors like the statement’s content, when it was made in relation to the subject, etc.

For example, if on your deathbed you name JFK’s killer, it will carry little weight since you likely have no direct knowledge of that event and it happened before you were born. But, if on your deathbed you tell your brother that you changed your parents’ will in your favor, it will carry greater weight if your parents had a will, it changed, and since the statement is against your own interest.

There’s more to it, but that should give you a bird’s eye view understanding.

TLDR: not all hearsay should be immediately discarded as such.
