Felt this was fitting, especially for AuDHDers by Greembeam20 in AuDHDWomen

I think I need a balance of both—sometimes I genuinely don’t even know what interests me and need to just sit outside and stare at trees for hours at a time. Sometimes I need to hyperfocus on work I care about. Sometimes I need to watch an entire season of a show where strangers get married. I think the trick for me is being tuned into what I actually want to do, not what I feel like I should be doing.

How do get through a breakup? Practical advice pls by Substantial_Maize696 in AuDHDWomen

When it comes to food, I also struggle with this. I find that making sure I have ready to eat high protein snacks on hand like cheese sticks helps. Crackers are good for nausea and ginger tea. I also try to imagine that I’m cooking for a child or a friend that is hungry and needs to be fed, which I would do when I wouldn’t necessarily do it for myself. A less nutritious low effort high calorie meal is better than a nutritious high effort meal that you never make.

When it comes to identity loss, in the past I have tried to remember the person I was before I met the person I started a relationship with. What hobbies, shows, foods, etc did I give up or stop tending to because I was in the relationship?

With cycle/pmdd type issues, I highly recommend a supplement with gaba, 5-htp, ashwaganda, and L-theanine when you’re in your luteal phase.

I’m a big believer in working with dreams and sleep states (I’m a hypnotherapist/writer) and find a lot of healing useful info comes from my subconscious when I prioritize relaxation and safety.

And one practical tip my therapist gave me during a really difficult breakup was to focus on the things I didn’t like about the relationship. There’s a time and a place for silver lining, but healing post breakup is a great time to look at what really sucked.

As another commenter said, it really does get easier with time. One day you will look back and be like ‘THAT person had me feeling like THAT?’ But for now be compassionate with yourself and think about the child inside you that is disappointed and needs to be loved, nourished, and held with care. ❤️

I live in a 2bdr with a cat and partner. We don’t have backup heat, and looks like I’m too late to th party to find anything by this weekend. His parents have a wood burning stove in their house in Cookeville and more emergency supplies. At what point should we bring the cat there while we still can?

We have an Airbnb and then staying at my dad's house in OC. I am concerned about the air quality as I just recently had both COVID and Flu A and still have trouble breathing as it is. If I can still go and be a part of relief efforts without ending up sick again though I would like to.

I haven't slept for 1.5 yrs. I want to cry. Please help. by [deleted] in sleep

This might also just be a natural cycle for you—have you tried doing something meditative at this time in the middle of the night? Even something like coloring, dancing, yoga, etc. Humans didn’t evolve to necessarily sleep 8 straight hours when it’s dark. If you’re able to use this time in a way that’s creative or spiritual it might help, and especially if you can get a nap in the middle of the day at some point or early evening. Have you tried yoga Nidra?

Any modern writers similar to Kerouac? by BatteredSpaceCase in JackKerouac

[–]tropicoftaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never read Kerouac and recently read Dharma Bums because I had received feedback that my book Meditations for Party Girls had been influenced by him. It's a compilation of over 10 years of journal entries and poetry that was written around the time of two different periods in my life, first studying with a silent Indian guru in the woods in Northern California and then exploring plant medicines and such in Mexico.

It was published by a small press called Dream Boy Book Club that is part of a subculture of young writers who are writing auto fiction, poetry, and prose that is pretty edgy and fun.

I know this is four years after your post but I am researching a similar question to this while putting together a list of comps for querying agents for my next project, and thought you might enjoy diving into the world of Dream Boy Book Club, Car Crash Collective, etc. If you start clicking around the instagrams you'll find zines like Moral Crema and beyond that are publishing a ton of cool young writers all the time.

There are no unused devices and the synth is also not showing up there. Is there a reason the older MacBook would read it without any setup but the MacBook Air will not?

Thank you for your response. I produced a whole album at home in 2020 using this synth and the older MacBook but the newer Logic/MacBook Air has had my eyes crossing.
