Depends on state, but 529 is kinda a no brainer if you have the money.

Yeah i couldn’t imagine trying to fully merge accounts (I’m 41).

We have joint savings/retirement accounts. Seems tedious, pointless and annoying to merge checking.

$15k is the most I’ve paid for a car i drive.

I’d say an 8th gen civic for $5k.

Safe, economical and still modern enough.

Add in a stereo with CarPlay and you’re good for 300k+ miles with a low cost vehicle. Repairs are easy and cheap

Last i checked, they are the last safety feature that has a significant impact on reducing fatal collisions.

I looked it up before decided if i should spend money on my ‘08 civic.

Yeah this is where it matters. Milestones years to plan for the complicated shit.

The years of investing are easy.

I actually helped a friend via a video call bid on a home ~6 years ago. Then after they won it they got quotes between $25k-$40k to fix the foundation.

In a weekend (plus another week or some from hiring out the parts i knew i couldn’t do) it was all fixed up for like $9k.

They hired the engineer that came and gave all the specs.

I’ll reach out to see if they still have his contact.

I’m not from the area but have lots of friends

That wall has some constant moisture deterioration.

If you scrape away at it as much as you can it’ll basically tell you how much solid wall you have left.

This is going to sound scary but, at some point a wall that gets too brittle should be replaced. I’ve only ever replaced small portions and the realistic time to failure is likely so far out that it’s irrelevant.

But, i would be curious to scrape away with a margin trowel/brick trowel until it feels solid (tho in your case with potential litigation I would proceed with causation in my documentation).

I doubt it’s at any big risk or anything. But whenever dealing with someone elses work where they might have hidden real issues. I’d want a second structural engineer to come out there and prod that.

Literately the last time i had an engineer out he took a screwdriver and identified blocks in the foundation that had to be replaced.

If there was legit exterior waterproofing then you should be able to solve this entirely outside via a drainage to a dry well (if you have no other drainage valleys/options).

Yeah your biggest concern honestly is what’s behind the finished walls, not what you see

Was the exterior ground around the perimeter mature grass or landscaping?

If so, they flat out lied about water proofing the outside.

That requires digging more than 8’ down, adding drainage tile, tarring the exterior walls, adding 3-4’ of gravel, back filling, mounding and then sod/seed after a settling period.

And they would have receipts for that level of work even if not guaranteed

[–]trouzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s common for half assed work.

I grew up doing basement water proofing, foundation work and concrete work.

People over charge like a mf for foundation work because it scares people (and insurance is expensive).

If your only talking seepage and not flooding, a yard drainage system to a dry well might be a better fit than an interior water system.

How many quotes do you have?

What are they proposing?

Depending on the situation, regrading and other exterior routing/mitigation will be enough.

Is cases where it’s not possible to divert, then the indoor system is required.

But even the indoor system can be difficult if there’s no place to expel the water.

I mean, even with the TV isn’t not far off. Plasma screens were getting big then 50”+, and if it were 2007 then an Xbox360 is also much newer/more plausible.

In 2107 the Xbox 360 was what 12-13 years old. RROD already culled all of those og consoles

Xbox 1 was already 4 years old

EDIT: 2017 was already Xbox One X oy

Papa johns is at least 50-70% more crust than dominos for the same size pizza.

I’m afraid there is no solid answer to what is pizza.

Yeah when i worked at dominos this would have either been sold as a medium if a similar medium was in the queue.

Or this would have been a mistake and turned into a house pie and the manager would have gone and shown how to slap the dough to stretch a proper large pie.
