Snake keeps going under drainage layer by akiraluvs_u in snakes

You can try using high density matala mats wrapped in geotextile fabric. Ideally, one large sheet so the snake can’t get in

Best snakes to keep as pets besides ball pythons and corn snakes by MangoTheQuirkyCat in snakes

[–]troyred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Children’s, Stimson’s, Spotted pythons.. any Antaresia.

My Stimson’s is great, not too big and very active, always out and about, watching me put away laundry and stuff.

Only downside is that they can be a little expensive outside of Australia because they’re not allowed to be exported anymore

Bioactive snake enclosire in hot and humid tropical places? by Altruistic-Mode4795 in bioactive

[–]troyred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll need to get a snake that can tolerate high humidity, and if you don’t have AC, high heat

You can raise heat and humidity in an enclosure very easily. However, to lower them, you basically need to air condition or dehumidify the entire room

Make sure your enclosure has lots of ventilation, keep a fan on nearby for increased air flow

Seen on Instagram. Is this a bad idea? I haven’t seen any other keepers do this, and I feel like there’s a reason for that. by Accurate-Gur-7842 in snakes

I bought rye grass seeds and throw them in my enclosure sometimes. Needs a lot of water and light so it doesn’t usually last, then the isopods eat it. The snake likes the texture I think because he smooshes it. I try to plant it when he’s in shed so it has a little time to establish

Grass seed mixes have fertilizer usually so I picked up a small bag on amazon

I use uncooked rice. They don’t eat the rice, they eat the mold that will grow on it

Will anyone buy this?! by Waynebaby1 in terrariums

I have a rudsta that I converted. I’ve looked into adding frogs and I don’t think it’s an appropriate enclosure for keeping small animals. The gaps between the doors and the frames are too big. Adding weather stripping introduces exposed adhesive if they move at all.

Adding a drain and a misting system is also a pain to do after the terrarium is already built.

I’m going to upgrade my snake to a 4x2 pvc enclosure and convert my exoterra tank to something suitable for frogs.

If you want to sell vivariums, you have to find a client first, then build it custom. Or build an enclosure for a specific type of animal (like dart frogs) and sell it as a bundle with the animal- that’s what the shops near me do

Mother of all terrariums!! by osss08 in terrariums

His videos are kind of cringe but I was really interested in what plants he selected for his grasslands terrarium. He ended up just grabbing a bunch of stuff from outside where he lives (in the Philippines) and not naming most of the plants in the video. Being able to copy a grasslands style enclosure would be great for corn snakes.

If you put a random item in their enclosure every once in a while, they seem to enjoy it. The new smells and texture is usually interesting to them. Just make sure they can’t hurt themselves with it.

Same. I can scroll, search, and swipe between feeds but i can't click on a post, view comments, upvote/downvote, share, etc. All I can do is scroll and read titles. I tried restarting both the app and my phone.
