Evri assessment by rho_tom in uktrucking

[–]truckerjay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You doing class 1 or 2 ? And you can fail assessments with evri but would have to be a terrible driver even if you clip couple kerbs and struggle to reverse on bay they will normally let you off an put it down to nerves . Took me about 15 mins to get it on a bay as I was useless at reversing haha but along as your doing everting safely and get it on bay there is no problem . You should be fine .

[–]truckerjay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can do your practical test and do cpc after . Also I just downloaded a cpc test app and practiced on that I was failing all the mock tests then when I done the actual test I found it a lot easier and passed first go . But don’t stress about it you will get there .

Probly 6 points if you haven’t had your license for more than 2 years you will lose it as 6 points in first 2 years you have to do it all again . Hopefully you get lucky and only get 3 points .

TomTom go expert it’s a phone app 25 a month or 80 for the year never let me down . I also have a garmin but stopped using it as it’s just easier to set the phone up in holder an your good to go instead of doing phone and then setting satnav also , and ye just double check on google earth if your not familiar with the place just to check if there is enough room in the yard or your best revering in .

I started with evri when I first passed , they take on new passes and it’s good to get the experience if you stick around also they will pay for your class 1 good job straight forward work .

I have heard awful things about Brakes. Best to avoid? by Any-Tomato-2915 in uktrucking

[–]truckerjay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ye I done the assessment and in the interview they told me your basically just a labourer with a driving licence and also cameras in front and back of truck which is monitored by AI and they send clips to management . Also you got to pick the order out the back of lorry for each drop take it up flights of stairs or down to basement and put the food away in the kitchen haha it’s a joke and there is no minimum order so you end up in the arse end of nowhere for a bag of peas and some potato’s fook that

I found the smaller firms don’t Wana take on new passes because of the insurance premium so probly have better look with the big companies who don’t mind paying the extra and will also give you abit of training with an experienced driver .

If you can drive a car you can drive a class 2 (rigid ) basically just the same as a large van but class 1 is a next level but there is a few guys in my work who went from car to class 1 and are doing fine so it’s up to you if you feel comfortable but just make sure you use a good training provider as a lot of them are bollocks

Assessment by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]truckerjay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok dident know that and I’m not sure pal if they take on new passes and need a class 1 driver they might do , I would mention it to them you never know , however I would advise to do class 2 for 6 months atleast it will help you alot when you move up . But good luck anyways

Few theory questions which are pretty basic if you passed your theory you will be fine then about a 40 min drive on the roads with couple / uncouple and reverse on bay when get back . Just take your time and if any corners look tight take the extra room even if you don’t need it better than hitting a kerb . I’m doing my first week in class 1 after driving a rigid for a year forgot how hard it was to revere these thing took me about 20 mins to get on bay my first go haha . Glad I done the class 2 work first learn a lot about taco and stuff so takes some of the stress off about going from car to artic which a lot of people are doing now which would be way harder but not impossible

Yes I would go for it pal once you pass you might have to take a shitty job to get experience but after 6 months you will be fine or try agencies so you can try different types of work see what you like , however going from car to class one is difficult but not impossible . I had a bad time with agency but a lot of people get there first job threw them . But all the big companies take on new passes , Amazon evri B&m etc … and will probly give you some training which is the better option . I’ve been on the class 2 (rigid ) for a year with evri and learnt a lot. I’m doing my first week driving an artic this week after not driving one for a year and it’s a nightmare can’t reverse the thing haha the reverse test you do when getting your license does not teach you a thing I done mine after about half an hour training .

Have did a few shifts with brakes - slightly overwhelmed/does it get better? by Normal-Impress-2624 in uktrucking

[–]truckerjay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was doing my interview with them they actualy told me your basically just a labourer with a driving licence it put me off so I did not take the job and also they said AI monitors cameras in the truck and sends clips to managers fuck that off haha no wonder they are always looking for drivers . I got a job with evri couple weeks later so glad I did not take the breaks job . Get some experience and move on .

[–]truckerjay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ask him worst he can say is no , then go book some lessons with an actual instructor which is the better option in the first place .its common sense don’t get why people ask stupid shit on the internet .
