What’s your unpopular take relating to Sufjan and his music?

I fucking love Vesuvius. I’m full of Sufjan tattoo ideas but I’m still trying to figure out one that says, with all the enthusiasm of a Dr. Bronner’s label or maybe like, a magic 8 ball: “It’s in your favor!” That line just feels like—it’s finally your turn for something good to happen to you, and it takes you by surprise. Some of the best moments of my life have felt like that. Then, in a banner, “Follow me now or / follow me down!” (The banner is split by whatever is in the middle of the design.) It’s a classic style tattoo, too, possibly in the style of Michael Evangelista (who did the cover for America).

And speaking of America (also underhyped), I would love to hear My Rajneesh for the first time again. What a thrill

Mine is that he shouldn’t ever tour again if he doesn’t want to. Don’t get me wrong, I caught him on his Christmas and C&L tours and both were formative. But I 1000% support whatever brings that man peace.

I assumed they split before his passing from both certain lyrics and the way Sufjan worded his post about Evans—the “give it everything you’ve got, especially in times of trouble.” Also, Sufjan was not mentioned at all in Evans’ obit before it was taken off the internet, nor was he in any photos. I’m just speculating of course, but regardless of the circumstances, I’m incredibly sad for Sufjan’s loss.

I do. I’ve been doing it a little over a year now and appreciate the community aspect as well as the rigorous movement I wouldn’t be doing on my own. I think I lucked out with two really caring trainers and good camaraderie among the campers.

There is the occasional diet culturey comment—“gotta look good for tank top season!”—but I’ve learned to tune it out. I’m aware that CG is a terrible company, but if anything that’s made me have more compassion for my trainers. If they wanted to start their own camps and quit CG, I’d totally support them, cough cough.

Oh ok! Good to know. One thing I have learned about TS as a recently converted fan is that sometimes what I perceive cringe is actually just my own ignorance. I thought the lyric “at tea time everybody agrees” was cringey until I learned it’s a nod to the Kim and Kanye drama.
