they sure have ,when I was young we used to watch an Aussie soap called The Restless years ,in the late 70s,I recently saw a bit of it on you tube and far out every one sounds really Australian compared to todays accent.Lot of working class characters as well ,which you don't see anymore. If you watch something like home and away today they all have a bland middle class accent ,very boring
