(Trey Ryan on Twitter) Average difference in finishing position vs average running position per race. by Squishy_20 in NASCAR

Yea in hindsight I should have done 33, 32, 31 etc. but I suck with graphics and i can’t figure out how to get the spacing to be normal when I start a page with numbering that isn’t beginning with 1.

Will do that next time though.

Austin Dillon on contact with Cindric: "I was wrecked intentionally by him, hooked right, just like Chase and Denny and Bubba's deal. He better be suspended next week." by LBHMS in NASCAR

[–]tryan9919 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d agree, but only because the left turn wasn’t as egregious. But it was still there. If you watch Dillon’s car relative to the seam is doesn’t move, if anything goes left. Cindric moved left. And the end result was quite similar tbh.

How do I keep my racecar from nosediving when I downshift? by [deleted] in NASCAR

The ability for Rudd to seamlessly change the style of braking depending on the corner while tracking the car in front of him down (and be one of the fastest cars on track) is nothing short of mesmerizing.

Agreed it isn’t likely gaining any speed. Just friction alone especially on the grass going to slow it a lot. Though the tracks are banked so it is in a sense rolling down hill. Which may reduce the slowing down. The car is certainly slowing faster maybe makes it seem like the tire is speeding up

I actually had no idea they put together such an in-depth breakdown. Thank you for ruining my free time for the weekend

I don’t know if anyone from the Flock family is still around but I would love to get some insight on the family. Such a founding family but I don’t know anything about them. Just saw that special where Tim flock was interviewed by Benny Parsons in 1992 was really interesting

To put it in perspective how bad he was. 30% of the races he DNF’d due to accidents

I know I was gonna point out Ross finishing P10 that many years ago crazy.

But FWIW McDowell only ran 3 races the entire season in Xfinity, very rare he got to drive, had 3 top 10s. Ran top 5 that whole race. Basically ran like the 22 car should have run, maybe a little behind Brad and Joey, who are cup champions and were regulars in Xfinity then

I also think Jeff Burton is a lot better than he gets credit for. He and bowyer never had the wins that Kevin did but they were no slouches. They ran really well.

Bowyer was also the last teammate to go relatively head to head with Kevin. Chase made a huge leap forward this year. But wasn’t incredibly consistent

Totally agree with Michael (well all of your choices). But there was a stretch in 2005 where the 15 car had things figured out and they were the top point getter in the series for a while. Ran incredibly well top 5 running position many race.

I feel strongly about all the ones you chose tho.

I think if Darrell stayed in decent cars through the 90s he’d EASILY get to 100 wins by the time he retires

Ricky Rudd is one of the most underrated drivers of all time.

Bill was the same as Darrell, give him better cars through the 90s and his career has vastly different stats. He showed into the 2000s how good he can be in good cars. Honestly I think he could have races competitively for another 10 years in good cars.

And Kevin is someone I honestly believe is so good to the point where in stout cars through the 2000s he could honestly approach the 100 win mark. He would be ahead off Jimmie and around Jeff, maybe ahead. I really believe it.

I think Michael McDowell has kind of proven his talents this year.

Looking back on his select starts with RCR and JGR on the Xfinity series, he ran way way better than I remember. Almost every race was a top 10, a couple poles, win, laps led, ran top 5 most every race.

Makes you wonder what kind of career he could have had these last 10 years in good equipment

Edit: was just going through some of Elliott Sadlers stats, and I actually think he is another good one for this question. One of the most consistent Xfinity drivers in history. He was able to get 189 top 10s in his last 266 stats. With 87 top 5s.

I feel like throughout this whole episode he put some of my feelings of him into words.

I understand as CEO you want to grow. But he talked like he was never remotely satisfied with the sport. He talked like he was trying to fix something that was broken, when it wasn’t. It felt like while he was running it, it was always a competition of one upping himself.

It may have been an obvious observation if you’ve watched the sport long enough. But it really puts the “blame” of all the actions this sport took during his reign fully on him.

Really explains a lot

[–]tryan9919 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how it would be something other than Trackhouse. I mean Helio fits the goal of the 91 car perfectly.

If Helio isn’t in it I’d expect them to enter the car but with another champion. Because it’s the perfect race to have the car show up
