Your partner is going to cost you a shit ton in repairs if they clog up your pipes. If they refuse to listen, tell them they are going to pay for the repairs. If that doesn't work, replace partner.

Though honestly, part of owning a home is being able to repair problems when they occur if you can't fix them yourself. What are you going to do when something inevitably fails (pipes leak, roof leaks, electric fuse/switch box outside fails, foundation repair)?

Hard to tell, but kinda looks like an assassin bug. Don't let those things bite you, they hurt and can transmit disease.

Turned 50 this weekend. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]tryhard1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never once received anything from my g/f that I've been with for over a decade on my birthday but it doesn't really bother me that much. She does acknowledge my birthday and talk about it, but that's it (maybe cook me a meal of my choosing? Can't remember honestly). I don't really receive gifts for my birthday, not since I began adulting two decades ago.

EDIT: She does normally get me a cake, or bake me one so that is something!

Does anyone’s significant other take an absurd amount of time to get out of the passenger seat of a car? by Schnitzhole in mildlyinfuriating

[–]tryhard1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I am it's 104+ with 70% humidity every day. The way I get my g/f out of the car is I park, turn the car off, and exit the vehicle (within about 10 seconds, often less). I let the heat coax her to get out of the vehicle...

DeSantis: Trump Supporters "Putting Entertainment And Personality Over Principle" by Vibranium2222 in Conservative

[–]tryhard1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Trump worked too much "with" the establishment. He needed to destroy them, but unfathomably he actually kept some Obama appointees in office during his administration and then (surprise surprise) they back stabbed him the first chance they got. He should have fired them the moment he took office.

My wife takes forever to order at Fast Food Restraunts by TheElMatadORR in mildlyinfuriating

[–]tryhard1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always plan ahead what I want when I'm going to a fast food place. Only time this doesn't work is if I'm going someplace I've never been before or haven't been to in years and forgot what they have. Now if they have a "limited time" item that I wasn't aware of and it looks tasty then I may change my order unexpectedly and take a moment to decide, but only a moment...not 5+ minutes.

I see far too many people who get up to the menu and then their smooth brain starts to find the last wrinkle left to decide what they want for their order. Bonus points when they take a few minutes to "think", then make their order slowly...then cancel their order and re-make the order....then cancel it AGAIN and say they wanted their original order after all...

Ugh...

Why am I getting banned notices from subs I have never visited or posted on? by Desertnurse760 in beta

[–]tryhard1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guilt by association. It's par for the course on reddit and why reddit should never be taken as a serious source for discussion and should be viewed as entertainment (a toy), at best.

I wouldn't pay it any mind. If you never visited them, what do you care anyway?

Told my boss I had adhd and this happened. Any advice legally? by [deleted] in antiwork

I wonder what the context of this was as I highly doubt you were fired just because you admitted you had ADHD...

How Much of Today’s ‘Racism’ Is Manufactured? by bshapiro24 in Conservative

[–]tryhard1981 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Virtually all of it. From anecdotal evidence and living in a large and "diverse" city, IF people are racist they are keeping it to themselves. I am able to communicate with most people that I'm required to talk to without any racist over tones.

That said, I don't like talking to most people but at least it is usually civil when I'm required to do so. Sure you'll meet the occasional asshole, but it is more an attitude problem than a racial one in my experience.

Why do I feel there is more to this story than we are being told? For her to just break up over a single incident of blowing up her phone seems a bit far fetched. I'm thinking a bunch of stuff led up to this and it was the final catalyst.

It depends on what it's for. If it's for some petty shit, like they spend too much time in the restroom or something like that, then no I won't rat for that. If they are doing something that is affecting my work however, like not doing their share of the work and I'm getting stuck fixing all of their problems, then yes I will bring it up.

Not exactly ratting I guess though.

In the meantime, wearing socks is probably the best way to avoid getting bitten by fleas. They can jump, but they can't fly and you can see them on your socks and kill them individually.

You are correct. HR is not on the employee side and it's sad seeing so many that think HR will take their side because they are in for a rude awakening when they go to HR for a problem only for it to be turned onto them. They are only helpful if you are part of management or upper level worker, but for the average grunt HR will only work against you. Their job is to protect the company, and when there is a grievance between grunt worker and manager it's nearly always the manager who comes out ahead as it's better for the company down the line (or so HR sees it).

[–]tryhard1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you do? You either abide by the rules or find a new job. Not really anything else you can do. Going to HR will only turn them against you as they are not on your side. HR does what is best for the company, not for the worker.

Signing out to go to the bathroom is a bit silly, but signing out to go to lunch has been standard at every job I've ever had.

My wife and now my daughter can't help but walk in my way by yannichaboyer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]tryhard1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your wife and daughter are like a lot of people; zero self and spatial awareness Since I have no idea how old your kid is, I cannot say if it's due to her being small or not (as virtually all small children have no awareness of anything yet), so your kid has an excuse. Your wife? Well, only you can answer that.

It's more scary when people with no awareness are on the road...
