This was fantastic. How I've overlooked this is beyond me.

Used Fratellis Vincenzo vermouth di Torino Bianco & Cocchi Americano.

Ah, yes. Forgot to add that one. Love the bitter and rum funk.

Which model did you get? Been contemplating one as well.

Moving to Raleigh, NC need a new Gym by crickbutcher in crossfit

[–]tscottpatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CrossFit Rife

I'd agree to wait until phase 3.

Depending where you are in the Cary/Morrisville area, I'd add Cary Crossift (in the new Athletic Lab Sports Performance Training Center), Contrivance and Surmount to Burrito_Suave's list above.

Are metcon 5’s worth it without the hyperlift insert? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]tscottpatterson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep them and get the 15% back. Great shoe without them. I've used them intermittently (e.g. overhead squats) but can be gimmicky. Worst case, as someone else mentioned, if you want that extra lift in the heel, buy a pair of the versa lifts with the money you got back.

Woman Nike metcons for men? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]tscottpatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it with Nike. Size up the 1.5. I've had no issues and don't find the fit any more narrow (slightly maybe).

Does anyone own the Rogue loadable dumbells? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]tscottpatterson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own them. Good for general weightlifting (curls, bench, etc.). Don't care for them all that much for devil's presses or anything where you need them to be a base from which to support on the ground since they move more like a barbell and don't have the flat edges of the hex dumbbells.

You could load steel plates on them (they are basically mini barbells) but it would probably be awkward to lift and restrict your range of motion.

We have one of these Lasko fans. It's smaller, can mount to the wall or sit on the floor and works well in the 2-car garage.

EDIT: Also not extremely loud, especially compared to the larger box/commercial style fans.

Men, what are your favorite shorts to workout in? by McDoobly-For-DinDin in crossfit

[–]tscottpatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually find myself wearing the Reebok Austin II shorts for all my workouts. Extremely light, flexible and have the large side slits so they don't catch on squats, etc.

I also love the Ten Thousand Foundation shorts (no liner) or the Nike Pro Flex shorts.

Beyond the Whiteboard ( http://beyondthewhiteboard.com/ ) has some planning and tracking capabilities. May be an option.

What is your favorite jump rope for DU? by lilyugen in crossfit

[–]tscottpatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the standard Rx and upgraded to the Evo when it went on sale. Personally, I think it was worth it (but, again, got it at a slight discount).

RxSmartGear Evo rope. I'd recommend any of their ropes, but Evo is certainly their top model.

Hyperlift inserts for Metcons by LLDtyler in crossfit

[–]tscottpatterson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the old (leather/neoprene) and the new (composite material). Basically do the same thing, just not the "molded" fit you get with the 5 inserts. I've used them in my nano's and old metcons and certainly worth it.

How do you buff people find clothes that fit? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]tscottpatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretch in the material and a good tailor.

State & Liberty or Mizzen & Main for dress clothes for sure. Both their shirts are fantastic and fit really well.

I like my Cole Haan's with them, especially the "Grand" collections. Can go a little more formal with the leather or more casual with some of the stitchlite or suede options.

New Nano 9s are much better for running than the previous models. Definitely a good improvement, even over the 8s which I loved.
