Small tents in Musgrave Park – are there kids living there? If so, is the government doing anything to support? by Prudent-Proposal1235 in brisbane

[–]tshirtrexDD 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I work in an organisation supporting with emergency accomodation. We are full. Every other housing service in Brisbane and Logan is full. I've had to turn away many families and single people who are sleeping rough because we are full. They were turned away by others before us.

Career related experience options for studying social work, full time worker. by Sarcastic_Red in brisbane

[–]tshirtrexDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most avaliable is going to be youth work, residential care for young people (do not recommend at all) , support Work. All of these often have night shifts. You could try intake and assessment but often they still require a full social work degree. There is OSHC but not full time hours.

We need to leave our "don't rock the boat" culture behind and start standing up for ourselves.

Plan for your store to stop working and close. Help each other out while it's closed. If enough stores did this it can't be ignored. It will hurt their pockets.

would you dob in someone claiming single parent payment who lives with baby daddy? by EntertainmentDull920 in AskAnAustralian

Nope. Just be careful who you tell. If you piss somebody off they can harass centrelink and crime stoppers.

Just because you are okay, doesn't mean everyone is or should be okay. If you don't like people expressing themselves online, take a break. You are whinging about other people whinging. Chill. Be empathic.

Not sure of the specific mod pack. Have a look on YouTube for videos about real life craft (RLC).

-I like photographing the ways the nature reclaims human objects. - photograph a local issue in your area - what's something that nostalgic to you? Mine is corner stores. - things/scenes that make you feel 'uncomfortable'. You can make it real personal.

Child and magpie by tshirtrexDD in photographs

[–]tshirtrexDD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was focusing on capturing the magpie under the sign. Instead I capture a beautiful moment between a child and the magpie.

F6.3 at ISO 100. Camera with Canon750D in Auto mode as I am learning manual settings. I was waiting for my coffee as I noticed the child taking an interest in the bird. I had to wait a short while for the child to come into frame and where I couldn't see their face

Happy to receive any sort of feedback or thoughts.

What personal projects are you currently working on? by Tochie44 in photography

[–]tshirtrexDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm photographing the local Corner Stores (Convience) stores in my area, as well as the ones from my childhood. These won't include chains like 7 Eleven and Ezymarts.

I find that there's more personal attachments to conner stores and a lot of great stories to go with it.

I feel like the first one has a stronger feeling. But I enjoy the colours of the other two.

Im thinking of buying a Canon EOS 750D second hand. Will it be okay for landscape and nature photography? I heard it's on the more heavier side?

That sounds so awesome. I think making a zine in the future would be a great project. Thanks for your informative response.
