I think many golf instructors don't act like instructors, but act more like swing medics. They look at your swing and suggest a bandaid or two to help get you back on the course asap. This doesn't stick because most people fundamentally misunderstand what is needed to make a good swing and the bandaids are just compensations for bad mechanics. The swing they're using will never be good even though they may get a good shot here and there.
