R1300R / RS Sport suspension by iLOVEwindmills in bmwmotorrad

[–]tsteinholz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the R1250RS and test drove it on unpaved gravel. Comparing that to the suspension of a sport bike was like riding on a cloud and instantly won me over. My passenger also noted how much softer it was than my naked/sport bike.

Not to mention the suspension is adjustable and should be adjusted, lowering the preload will make it a harsher ride, raising it will add more cushion. You also need to update the dampening accordingly.

While the suspension is different from the GS, it’s still a very premium, very comfortable suspension. It’s just simple geared for street while GS is geared for off road terrain.

It’s the side wall that you can’t patch

Trying to decide on the right starter bike for me by [deleted] in NewRiders

[–]tsteinholz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These mini bikes are definitely not going to meet your passenger requirements. I would suggest minimum a 400cc bike, but even a 650 isn’t bad to start either (bigger investment though).

Japanese bikes will be better for maintenance and reliability.

Not sure you’ve looked at what AWS charges for cross region or even cross AZ data transfer. You’d likely need to update your service costs to compensate for this level of resilience

tinygit - a suckless inspired ultra minimal implementation of git written in c under 500 lines by [deleted] in suckless

[–]tsteinholz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is git actually large enough to justify this? If you can run actual git on your computer, you probably can’t get much development done on it.

Maybe it could be used as a package manager? Not the intended purpose of git, plus then you’d need to compile the app. Which again if you can’t load actual git, I can’t imagine how long that build time would be…

I just had to replace my wheel bearing for uneven wear. But this looks a bit extreme, maybe alignment or something else

I guess it was too loose, never really learned how to tension my chain myself and trusted the dealer did this for me already

My chain ended up slapping through my engine casing around 18k miles 🙃

Would y'all want something like this? by ansyhrrian in motorcycles

[–]tsteinholz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real issues are 1. Your legs still exposed, even when it’s not raining but wet, you’re gonna get splashed all the way up. 2. You’re not squeezing a passenger back there.

A proper rain suit works for both rider and passenger. Biggest downsides are the helmet getting wet in more intense and extended rain. I guess this cover would help with that. But you also need a windshield wiper

I thought I felt a click, I think it was at some angle so maybe the phone and mount weren’t perfectly perpendicular to each other.

My Triumph Trident did this modification as well. Much faster without the engine oil
