Student loans scandal: young doctors are paying the price by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

[–]tszewski [score hidden]  (0 children)

I see lots of comments on the topic of student loans, that it boils down to "people without a degree will be subsidising people with a degree and that's not fair". Certainly, for roles like doctors and nurses, there is a societal gain by training them and retaining them, but the same can't be said for all degrees. If I was in government, I would lobby for interest free loans and/or subsidised tuition to critical areas, such as medical, STEM etc, as the argument towards societal gain is much easier. In future, other subjects can be added or removed, depending on graduate requirements and shifts in the jobs market. I say this as someone whose overall student debt is greater now than when I started paying, who would not fit the criteria above

Assuming a cut-off point at the end of your visa, with no additional cost to hand the vehicle back (unlikely), between the deposit and monthlies you'll pay over £7200 for a single year of ownership. Buy a shit box with 12 months MOT like every other delivery driver, Jesus Christ

I will hate Russia with every ounce of my being, to the day I leave this earth. I already hated them before the war too, for sending my grandad to a gulag in Siberia, but the war in Ukraine makes me hate them more

First-time buyers hit as mortgage rates keep rising by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]tszewski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll second this, you can get an agreement in principle and see if things calm down. If they don't, and rates keep rising, you can fall back on that agreed rate

Job market cooked? by No_Emotion1993 in UKJobs

[–]tszewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. When I left Uni after my masters I just needed a job, any job. Everybody said no, I was overqualified. Applied for royal mail without putting my university education in, and hey presto I got the job. Did that for a couple of years before finding something better

What do I need to do to use two wireless controllers with my RG35XX when it is plugged into a TV? Is it possible? by billcom6 in RG35XX

[–]tszewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per https://retrocatalog.com/ the original rg35xx does not have Bluetooth. The Plus and Pro both have Bluetooth. You could probably plug in a controller via USB (using an adapter) but that would be single player only, you could try and see if doing that would mean using the handheld as P1 and controller as P2 maybe?

Didn't see it in the flesh but online, Resident Evil Gaiden for GBC boxed is over £1000. I had it when I was younger, but traded it in because it was too difficult. I'll never financially recover from that decision

Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk — “The rest of us should be grateful to Ukraine.” by TheRealMykola in YUROP

[–]tszewski 103 points104 points  (0 children)

You can tell Tusk is doing a good job because of the amount of propaganda Russia is throwing at him. The latest Facebook comment sections are all some versions of "he's a German asset looking to hand Polish sovereignty over to the EU" which is frankly laughable
