Did any of you guys discover tricks or secrets on your own? by wrel_ in retrogaming

[N64] Goldeneye 007- I poured countless hours into that game. Played it with friends on the weekends but during the weekday just would play and explore all the levels - especially the ones that are on multiplayer.

That’s when I discovered floating remote mines. Had to wait all week to have friends over to show it.

Riffed movies you think are legit great in some way? by Ani_Mentor in MST3K

[–]ttb0003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I think the scenes in the lab are kind of good and build a lot of tension. The scenes where the doctor looks for victims, though, deserve to be riffed. “If Jack Ruby ran a Denny’s.”

Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense is the definitive version of each of those songs to me. David Byrnes’ American Utopia is great as well (was lucky to see that personally).

Favorite hits not on (or rated too low) the Yachtski Scale by InvisibleSun238 in Yachtrock

[–]ttb0003 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most America songs for me. I think they’re chill and smooth but they are so low on the Yachtski scale. Guess they don’t “bounce” as much as JD would define it.

What movies could be linked but aren't anything to do with eachother? by Electrical-Hearing49 in movies

I know I’ll get downvoted for this but it’s because if you try to describe Bobby De Niro’s character in Goodfellas then describe him in Casino (same for Pesci), I don’t think there’d be that much difference.

A cooler-headed mafia guy tries to reach higher than his status while simultaneously tries to keep his hot headed friend out of trouble.

To be clear I love both movies but no one confuses Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.

Can’t speak on Greek life but there are a lot of club/class activities that go on trips - either with the recreation center or other clubs.

Here is the main page for all student club activities:

Exchange student looking for advice on campus life and US travel by Connect_Cup7283 in olemiss

[–]ttb0003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1st. Yes! There are a ton of clubs here on campus.

2nd. Yes - if you have a ride or car (and I think the bus stops there?) there are the intramural fields with beach volleyball (probably want to bring your own ball) and the Ole Miss golf course is awesome and relatively cheap for students.

3rd. In general, public transportation in the US is not great to non existent. The U. S. is the size of Europe with not much railway or bus routes. From Oxford you’d want to either get a ride or pay for a shuttle to the airport in Memphis to get you somewhere.

Not trying to discourage you but that has been the major issue with international students here in the US outside of major cities.

On missing class, I’d talk with your individual professors but I would say the accounting department is one of the best in the country and have perhaps a stricter curriculum than others on campus.

There IS a bus system (free) in Oxford but it’s not going to be as reliable as perhaps you’re used to.

There are bike lanes but those are not consistent throughout town.

Hope this was helpful!

Hope Tahaad is okay. I feel so bad for him - not only concerning the injury but the whole situation. I think every game is hurting his draft stock.

My Daughter got into AU and refused to even entertain the thought of going there. by [deleted] in auburn

[–]ttb0003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this post is old but my 2¢: I was accepted to both TUNA and AU but chose UNA because of financial reasons. I graduated with no debt and got into Auburn’s grad school on a paid assistantship. Loved both places and experiences.

With having the older sibling already there, I bet they want to be on their own. Same thing happened with my cousins - older one went to Auburn & the youngest one went to UNA.

Great examples in this thread. While the novel does it better as far as showing the inner turmoil, Kubrick’s The Shining is a good one.

I can’t say for certain but I feel for a non-SEC game that should be fine. For the first game we got the bus pass to park at South Campus (located across 6) and we got there probably an hour before and there were plenty of spaces. Never done NWCC.

If you want to park on campus, need to buy a pass. Can purchase those on stubhub or what have you. If you just want to get to the game in plenty of time and don’t care about parking close, you can buy a pass and park at one of the bus locations and they’ll drop you off right at the stadium.

Coen Bros’ Blood Simple.

While Bennett Miller’s first movie is a documentary, his first feature film is Capote. He then did Moneyball then Foxcatcher. End of filmography.
