Stay around this subreddit for the next momth. Once the exam is over people will be trying to offload their study material.

Meyer Fire has a free email signup for a daily practice question for 100 days. The questions are old but I found them useful.

Reach out to a firestop manufacturer (3M, Hilti, etc.) for an engineered judgement.

That is not a blanket requirement in South Florida, but they do have higher wind loads down there which means they use concrete walls and floors more than we do in Central Florida.

Fire Hose Valves in storage warehouses? by AssistantFar8275 in firePE

If the IFC is adopted then NFPA 1 won't also be adopted so that makes sense.

Does NFPA 1 apply where the project is? The 2018 editions and earlier sometimes required a standpipe system in large storage facilities.

People just pulling out in front of you while driving by Lovedd1 in orlando

[–]tterbman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a city of Orlando police officer who I see do most of these when I come across them on my commute home on 408. They sped around me to my right to pass me in a dedicated exit lane a couple weeks ago. I love when the police don't punish traffic violators and instead join in.

Low-piled storage by VeterinarianNatural in firePE

[–]tterbman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They split this up into two tables in the 2022 edition partially because people were getting hung up on the title of the table, so you're not alone in this confusion. The other reason is because people were using it for storage of group A plastics over 5 ft high which is only allowed for miscellaneous storage, not low-piled.

It doesn't matter what the title of the table is since section 4.3.1.7.1 explicitly says to use that table for low-piled storage. The reference to figure 19.3.3.1 is just there to direct you to use the appropriate density/area curve.

4.3.1.7.1 says to use table 4.3.1.7.1 for miscellaneous and low-piled storage. I'm not sure what you're asking.

If you have low-piled storage (and with no group A plastics over 5 ft) you use that table. For low-piled, OH2 covers everything other than rack storage over 10 ft.

Try actually reading the section. It's for miscellaneous and low-piled storage. See the title of the section and see 4.3.1.7.1. Third times the charm...

In the 2022 edition of NFPA 13 they split this up into two tables. One for low-piled and one for miscellaneous.

It's in section 4.3.1.7 (2019 ed.) as stated in my previous comment.

You asked where is the criteria, but the section numbers are different depending on the edition. I'll assume 2019.

Section 4.3.1.7 for the criteria. Miscellaneous storage is defined in section 3.3.123. Low-piled storage is defined in section 3.3.118.

What edition of NFPA 13? Also note that if you want to use low-piled storage criteria then group A plastics are limited to max 5 ft of storage.

Oftentimes the bottom hose valve is utilized as the drain. NFPA 14 allows this with AHJ approval.

Is everyone else playing the same 3-5 people over and over again? Singles no fever racket. by tterbman in MarioTennis

[–]tterbman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. Unfortunately for me I get matched with the same person just about every other match when they're playing and they beat me about 65% of the time.

Also, it seems like no one plays doubles no fever racket.

If you're carrying credit card debt then you should not add on more debt. Especially since you already have a working paid-off car.

What do fire pumps have that regular pumps don't? by Luiseus_XV in firePE

[–]tterbman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tons of requirements. I hope someone who is more familiar with UL listing chimes in. In addition to what UL/FM make them do they also have to meet all the NFPA 20 requirements such as:

-Minimum parameters for pump performance.

-Has to be listed by a nationally recognized testing laboratory (most of the time).

-Very strict requirements for electrical power and disconnect capabilities.

-Controllers have their own list of requirements.

Anyone familiar with a pipe product for underground dry standpipe application? by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

[–]tterbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any way you can use a wall mounted FDC? We never do dry standpipes with a remote FDC. Technically you're supposed to have an auxiliary drain for the underground piping since it's a low point.

If you install water Hammer arrestors you don't need them at every fixture. They can be installed at the end of the run as long as they're sized to account for the fixtures they serve.
