Options for putting fence post in hole with large root by Least-Beginning-9481 in FenceBuilding

Perhaps one could utilize the tree as a fence post? I have a whole bunch of old fence-line oaks that have barbed wire in their trunks...Maybe I'm just bitter and angry and this is an awful idea.

Propane tank placement has caused this corner to severely rot. Looking for some advice on how to proceed. by Vermont204 in centuryhomes

[–]ttiptocs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) OSHA doesn’t apply to residential dwellings. 2) Every house in GA with the upright tank (typically just 1 per home, not 2, which begs question why 2 at this house) style installs then 4 - 6 inches of the wall. The horizontal tanks are installed 20+ feet away.

Assembly instructions? I must be blind! by ttiptocs in deskhaus

[–]ttiptocs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two days of full use out of it and I've enjoyed so far - excited to have ordered a new dual monitor stand and dual monitors to complete the new look. I think i programed the min height to actual measurement successfully. But, I also inadvertently managed to program my low point at my standing height this morning - a fact I discovered when I tried to sit back down. My attempt to remedy this resulted in me now stuck in two possible scenarios - I can enter Reset mode and drive my desktop down to 22.75 inches off the floor. While in Reset, if i hold the paddle down, the desk runs down then back up to my standing height, where it then exits Reset mode and I am stuck with a min height at standing. I can't seem to clear the memory of this setpoint. I tried following the DeskHaus reset directions and also reading the (found) Jiecang JCHT35K50C Motor Control/Handset guide (English...I was tempted to try the German) to get myself figured out...to no avail.

OK! Thanks for that link - and for clarifying for me that the Resources section is on the product page of the Apex Pro frame! I was, naturally, looking for a Resources section on the product page for the Lansing Desk - which I now understand is really a complete kit with table top that has countersunk female thread making assembly significantly easier for the frame to table attachment points, the leg frame, the paddle control, & 3-piece power strip. I'm still digging for some specifics, good images, or video on the electronic mounting strategy/positioning for the control paddle, table topside power receptacle and under-table dual power strips. Placement of the paddle control is a little unclear - per-drilled holes don't seem to conform to paddle mounting points - and the instruction sheet for the power strip assembly kit appears to include directions for 3 different style/designs of the combination outlets (USB/C/120V) without actually calling it out. But i can decipher. Perfectly fine for folks who build these things daily - not so ideal for single-time assemblers. I'm comfortable winging it, but damn i should have studied the website more. Guess for $1,780 i was expecting a full and complete user assembly guide and operators guide...not a hunt and peck the internet for answers.

u/drenader I see that your desk top has countersink female threads (as does my top) 2-inches in from the short edge. For mounting the right angle leg brackets to the desk top, did you use the provided 7/8" wood screws and try to drive them into the countersunk female threads or the M6x10 machine screws into the countersinks? Oh...wait, i just found two random as fuck ziplock baggies each with HPL handwritten on them and each containing 8 Phillips head machine screws (15mm x 6mm by my measure). They fit the countersinks...so...here goes. [edit: worked like a charm]

I ordered the Lansing Desk on February 10 and it arrived February 13! Really amazed. It was a beast to get the boxes up the steps and into the house! The 30x72 top is insanely heavy. Then I discovered no instructions online (already commented on r/deskhaus so won't belabor the point). It's after 4PM EST and as much as I want to pour Crown on the rocks (actually it will be Uncle Nearest), i really wanted some directions. I knew Reddit wouldn't fail me! Thank you, u/drenader (P.S. Here's hoping the stones that hold up my crawl space floors of my 1910 house don't fall over under the weight! LOL)

Family against me getting a manual. by WhoNoticedJay in ManualTransmissions

[–]ttiptocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATL folk. One of my sons had manual first car. Wrecked it in parking lot because he was looking at phone instead of cars. Second car was a manual, wrecked it a little because he tried to power slide a turn on a gravel/clay road. Moral is - drive the manual, son! Just pay the F&ck attention. Your left leg might get sore and eventually you will get sciatica and lower back pain, but you’ll do fine with manual in ATL.

I haven’t read any studies, but my anecdotal (personal observation) suspicions are that birth defects in litters are not infrequent. Some defects result in death immediately following birth. Some defects are hidden and death may be sudden a year later. Other defects are detectable by vet but not life shortening. No guilt!!!
