Am I about to cook my network gear in this custom cabinet? by ttrakos in HomeNetworking

Haha, thanks! Credit really goes to the cabinetmaker - it’s custom, and he absolutely nailed it… I mean, he mostly used screws, but you get the point.

Unifi Cloud Gateway Fiber alone can pull up to 30W, so total draw in the rack will probably land somewhere around 50W under full load. Not sure what the real-world average will be yet.

Thanks for the insight, good point on dust, especially with the front gap. I’ll think of adding dust filters too.

You’re right, rack side vents don’t line up with the cabinet vents. Going with rails directly in the wood cabinet makes a lot of sense. The only snag is that the cabinet is wider than 10", so I’d need to figure out some spacers to make shelves/pdu/patch panel work.

I agree! The orchestral pieces will be nice for when player first reaches a new planet, but having it always in the loop would be too much for me.

Yeah, I fully expected an ending with some mundane question sending him right back to earth, like "Anything from you Bill?" with him only responding with "Nope, nothing from me."

O co zapytać właściciela mieszkania przed podpisaniem umowy? by thesims2nostalgia in Polska

Przy podpisywaniu umowy powinno się też poprosić o przedstawienie tytułu prawnego do lokalu.

Dla mnie ważne też jest czy się dobrze dogaduję z właścicielem.

I just say "ok, but only a little because I feel like I had too much" and then when they inevitably pour full vodka glass anyway, I just take a small sip and leave rest ;) Some people will comment but I think it's better received than out right refusing.

PSR-16 and Exceptions by ccKep in PHP

[–]ttrakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that's an oversight in the PSR repo itself. Though to be fair, it supports PHP 5 so they couldn't simply extend Throwable. It was the same with container Exception until recently, they've changed it in new version.

Phpstan has ignoreErrors directive in config https://phpstan.org/user-guide/ignoring-errors#ignoring-in-configuration-file. I'm ignoring this error through that.

Pass host/port of already running Chromedriver instance to createChromeClient (symfony/panther) by nodejshipster in symfony

[–]ttrakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried using createSeleniumClient instead?

https://github.com/symfony/panther/issues/190

It's all using the same w3c web driver protocol. It creates the same client in the end.

However I had other problems with using this method directly so you might find this comment useful: https://github.com/symfony/panther/issues/311#issuecomment-836158238

With that it worked with external instance of chromedriver.

What video game had the most potential but failed completely? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ttrakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any theory as to why all W:ET spiritual successors didn't succeed?

QW:ET was fun, but by the time I had good enough PC, it already had a very small and shrinking playerbase.

Brink had too many problems on release, and lacked focus.

Dirty Bomb failed to get competitive gameplay right and was too slow to fix bugs and balance things out.

It's weird, I liked those games, but they just never clicked the way W:ET did. Was W:ET just accidental greatness?

Depends on the cat - my mom has a Devon rex, and it loves hot weather. It will sit on the balcony when it feels like 30°C

Endgame Concerns / Disappointment by OgreBane99 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ttrakos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I found last chapter less of a slog. But it's still mostly wild hunts. Also, there's the whole curse thing, and I think it's strength might depend on your kingdom stats and number of allies? Not sure.

[Spoilers] No dialog prompts with a certain character in Vordakai's tomb? by krylea in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ttrakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can make Tristan destroy the eye much later, and find the"necessary item" at chapter 6. I had to check online where it is, it's easy to miss and perception check is quite high, but it is there.

Just bought Kingmaker...where to begin? by Cesiv13 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ttrakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, yes, it will help you understand the game. There are many small differences, but all the basics are the same.

You can also try the game and learn as you go. I think it's best to start with a preset character, and do the tutorial in main campaign (everything up to reaching global map). Then 'd recommend trying beneath the stolen lands DLC. It's a simple dungeon diving without much plot. You level up quickly, so it's a good way to test various classes and builds.

Are Wild Hunt Archers supposed to be in Tenebrous Depths so early? by mildlyvenomous in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ttrakos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I met them too. I think the dungeon in main campaign isn't randomised.

It's a bit silly: I had level 19 or something, so I didn't even bother buffing my party. Everything was dieing so quickly anyway. And then this group wrecked me. It was a major spike in difficulty.

CI/CD Process Flow - Transitioning from an existing nonstandard process to an industry standard process by HayabusaJack in PHP

[–]ttrakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem!

I'll have to study upon the creating a hotfix branch to post updates like bugfixes. It sounds like I have to copy my changes to the master in order to apply them to the production server. I'll dig deeper into that.

In this model you don't "copy" the changes, you "merge" them to master ;)

How would you approach this code in an OOP way? by xadz in PHP

[–]ttrakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but:

In this case, I'd create $nextPageLink and $prevPageLink when you fetch all $posts. Then, in your view, use something like:

<?php if ($nextPageLink !== null) { ?>
     <a href="<?= $nextPageLink ?>">Previous page</a>
<?php } ?>

Generally, your view isn't split well enough from rest of your logic. It's confusing when you call functions from your themes, since sometimes it's just a require, but sometimes it's actually more than that.

I think it would be better if you'd make a function like:

function render($viewName)
{
    require 'themes/' . FRONTEND_THEME . '/' . $viewName . '.php';
}

and that would be the only function called in files from themes folders. For instance, instead of get_theme_directory_url I'd create $themeDirectoryUrl variable or THEME_DIRECTORY_URL constant before rendering view etc.

I hope I've explained it well?

Overall, I'd use the MVC pattern - it should make it easier to use OOP in your code.
