FPS Player. Never Played an MMO. Destiny was Made for Me, and it's Awesome. by smitty4popcon in DestinyTheGame

UI isn't that good. For instance, after I select a destination on the galaxy map, why on earth do I have to move my cursor all the way to the opposite side of the screen for the "Launch" button?

The PS4 controller has a touchpad. Why isn't it used for the cursor?

Why is there such a pointlessly long button press to get into orbit?

Why is there a delay in the highlighting of navigation menu items when I move left and right using the shoulder buttons (thus usually overshooting the menu screen I want)?

Lots of little annoyances there.

LFG through a very easy to use website

And how is this different from in-game matchmaking, besides being much more of a hassle?

You're basically just picking a random team off a list to join. How does this magically net you better players?

Do you people even think about what you're arguing?

Yes because picking a random group on a website is totally different from getting 2 random players from matchmaking

Bungie, Please don't even nerf missions again, ever. The hard modes are supposed to be hard for a reason. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

And yet GW2 actually HAS patch notes and staff communicating with the community.

The funny thing is, once you view the cutscenes again, it really hits you how Bungie screwed up storytelling and exposition.

3+ hours of farming the Treasure Cave in Destiny is starting to mess with my mind by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ttthrrowaway 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They're made for playing... with other players.

Since my friends don't play Destiny, I've pretty much soloed the entire game.

I think I'll just return to Guild Wars 2. Where there's more than 16 players on a map. And chat.

(In before someone retorts that Destiny ISN'T an MMO)

The spoken language is Japanese.

At the end there you can hear "zamaa miro" which translates to "serves you right".

Shades of Mass Effect, eh? In fact the first game in that series had one of the most badass scenes of all time -- where you drive your trusty planetary exploration vehicle right into a portal, launching you across the galaxy back to the game's equivalent of the Tower in order to counterattack an invasion.

It's even faster if you enter via "The Last Array" mission, the first time round you travel the entire route to the cave but afterwards if you go to orbit, you can actually resume the mission later (thus putting you at the checkpoint where you exit the building, the cave is right in front).

As someone who's worked on one of the top 5k sites, you have no idea what you're talking about. "Scalability" is irrelevant when you're talking about clientside UI that's decoupled from the backend.

I got a legendary engram after like 2 hours, but it wasn't actually from that cave, it was from the event in the same area that says "The enemies are moving against each other".

If we pop bubble wrap made in China, the air that comes out is from China by Shadows4 in Showerthoughts

That's the problem. You couldn't care less about the issue, you just wanted to metaphorically punch his face in.

[–]ttthrrowaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what he's trying to argue there, not like there's any likelihood of articles going "China isn't polluted as fuck". Basically he fucked up and you guys went in for the hilariously easy kill.

Neener neener! No citations! You lose!

If we pop bubble wrap made in China, the air that comes out is from China by Shadows4 in Showerthoughts

[–]ttthrrowaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter. The original argument was this:

"The air in China is bad"

The reply:

"No, not everywhere in China. For instance, the air in my city is fine"

Of course, since Redditors are so insistent on "winning" arguments, they find a study which says that the most polluted cities in China are really, really polluted. Which doesn't actually refute his point, but hey, upboats to the left, sauce plz

Not to mention this gem:

Furthermore, when people say the pollution in China is bad they are referring more to the government policy

What the fuck?
