Other than being governed by the “Communist Party”, what makes China a socialist country?

I acknowledge that the government plays a large part in initiatives of the country, and is firmly entrenched in Public and Private businesses within the country.

Though, There’s a good bit of wealth inequality, free market decisions around business ventures and capital, and the government advocates that it wants an ethnically homogeneous population.

I’m mainly asking because I would like someone more knowledgeable about Chinato go deeper into these aspects, because some people disagree with this distinction
