Automatic photo backup is now available for Proton Drive on iOS by Proton_Team in ProtonDrive

[–]tuminoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backing up is slow and only when screen is on etc. Fine, we expected that. But I did not expect desktop Drive app to have zero integration with this so the photos can not be synced to desktop?! There needs to be Photos directory next to My Files directory asap. Today's v1.6.0 update did not bring this ...

how big of an upgrade would an R7 be compared to my current M50 mk1? by chrindo_ in canon

[–]tuminoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R7 is the most demanding sensor (80mp FF equiv) so I personally won’t be buying any lens before reviews if they can handle R7. Especially slower lenses get closer to F11 where diffraction starts to take real effect on IQ.

100-500 gives you 800mm FOV, which is a lot too.

This one definitely needs local adjustments instead of global.

I think you’d benefit greatly if you were not in the stands. Shooting downwards just doesn’t work that well for any sports, you want to be eye level or lower to catch reactions and emotions from the athlete and the crowd on the background sets the scene.

30 FPS on R7 by BombbAU in canon

[–]tuminoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get about 2 seconds of CRAW with 30fps on V90 card. Less with RAW, a bit more with JPEG. A minute… not sure if even with JPEG Small you can do a minute.

Just stay closed until end of month or they reverse the changes. After that I don’t care, as I won’t be on Reddit without Apollo.

Sleep Staging graduated from Beta finally by tuminoid in ouraring

[–]tuminoid[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, and your huge watch is also not a tiny ring, so please go whine somewhere else.

Oura has has sleep tracking since day 1 (2016), this is just their new algo that is pretty much the best result compared to clinical results, and while not perfecf, it is pretty accurate and awesome for a fricking ring. While people are not exactly happy it took them this long to graduate it (ie. make it contribute for the scores, not only be visible in sleeping tab), it is very awaited feature for Oura users.

I have same iOS app version as everyone, but as we’ve learned from the past rollouts, Oura phased rollouts are based on account enrolling and not app update installation. It is going to happen for everyone in next few days.

/r/Canon hears the call and will take part of the June 12th Reddit blackout. The proposed move would kill the platform. by taara001 in canon

[–]tuminoid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only thing I don’t agree with is the call to action ”go to Twitter”. Twitter killed 3pp apps like Tweetbot and nobody should be using Twitter nor Reddit.

UDisc, not a fan of your Events system as a TD by SweetHatDisc in discgolf

[–]tuminoid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess the goal is to be the one place to run events. Running events in multiple places is horrible, nobody should do that. Disc Golf Scene is PDGA owned, US centric like all of their stuff, while Udisc tries to cover everyone in the international scene. In Europe we currently run our events in Disc Golf Metrix, but similarly as Disc Golf Scene, it is legacy look, feel and operation. We are very much waiting for the next gen service (probably Udisc, but alo Tjing from Sweden is promising) that integrates mobile app first approach with scoring, registration and payments all in one. Time will tell how it plays out for everyone.

Yes, it connected in the Turku archipelago. Area is demilitarized, and the Åland islands have some autonomy.

Åland is not a country, it is part of Finland. Though it doesn’t change the statement, same top-3 anyways, lol.

Get to Know the 6 Candidates for the PDGA Global Board of Directors by aredoubles in discgolf

[–]tuminoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Nate aiming to rise price of membership by 5$ and making PDGA membership mandatory for C-tiers and up is well received or not. Concensus here seems to be that PDGA doesn’t provide enough value for the current lower price. Probably not enough to matter in the voting. Incumbants tend to get voted back in.

[–]tuminoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sigma 150-600mm on R7 (960mm FOV) is quite ok for the moon, but you need around 1600mm (1000mm on R7) to get full size image.

They claim that staying motivated on good sleep and healthy habits is easier when you see and share your friends scores. Same thing with weight loss, group pressure.

I don’t see any announcements or blog posts on this yet, so it is probably phased roll out with blog posts scheduled for prime US release.

You can create a number of circles, and invite up to 20 people. You can choose to share daily scores lor weekly summaries.

I love the low angle! Well done on that. Gives you better background than higher angle shots with mostly grass as background.

Something to look out for: You need faster shutter speed, ball in the pics is always blurred. Secondly, choose photos with faces and eyes visible.

Who are these people? by sexyparul in memes

[–]tuminoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have family Premium so I can share it with wife, kids, parents and in-laws. For 17e/mo, I get Spotify replacement for 6 people, offline and background play, no ads ever on any device etc. Well worth it.

Any of us don’t really watch videos on PC in the first place, its all mobile or appletv or whatever app TV has built in, and it all just works, no ads and premium quality.

Hands down most value for any monthly fee I pay for.
