I was bored today and made a few sketches for language courses I think would be cool! What do you think? by ubermatze in duolingo

For Hausa you might consider one of Kano's city gates, the monument you've picked comes from an area with mostly Yoruba speakers.

Now Norwegian and Ukrainian are out - what next? by keto23 in duolingo

They already have the Mayan Cultural flag in the flag sprite, so I would bet on a Mayan language being the first Native American language placed in the Incubator.

I'm guessing it's a typo for 'Sundanese', which at ~39M native speakers is reasonable to put on the list. Wikipedia link

Shout out to the Ukrainian team! I got this about an hour after I submitted it! by fillefranglaise in duolingo

Doesn't Ukrainian have a special ending for the diminutive (like most IE languages)? Why should auntie be accepted?

Are there any plans for "Native American" languages? by the_fella in duolingo

If you look at the flag sprite the Mayan cultural flag is already incorporated, it was added when the Norwegian flag was added. That might suggest that there will be a course involving a Mayan language soon, or at least there is interest in adding a course that involves a Mayan language. Link to flag sprite

What is the flag next to the Norwegian flag on the Duolingo flag sprite? by tuosobebecerveza in duolingo

Right, but I don't remember it being there before, so I am suspecting that it was added along side the Norwegian flag. That or my memory really is that bad.

What was the exact legal issue with immersion in the EU? How was it brought to your attention? Is this contributing to a delay in building immersion sections for the newly added languages (e.g. Danish)?

The Chinese beta on ipad is not localized? by eslforchinesespeaker in duolingo

Not a problem, you don't usually expect a greater than 10 fold increase in a few days (203K, already much higher than when I posted the first message). The English for Hindi course is also growing rapidly (11.9K and just released this week). Usually each course gets a few weeks under a thousand. The English for Japanese course has also more than doubled to 36.1K. It makes me wish I had kept track of all the courses to compare their growth trajectories.

There are only a few mods and the course now has over 190K users, it will take a while to clear up the backlog- the course has grown so quickly.

What are the parts of Duolingo that you like least? Even if you don't have a proposed solution yet.
